VP fuel containers any good??

punkrock randy /

I gotta know if they work well and are worth it? I’m so sick of shitty gas cans. I have a 1 gallon that works good but doesn’t last long. My 5 gallon is going to the curb when it’s empty, fuel runs down the side for the first half as u pour it. Doesn’t matter if you have the spout on it or not. Bad petrol containers are the worst🤦🏼‍♂️

Ya, reviews aren’t looking that good. I really want a Justrite metal safety can but can’t find one locally. Gonna try this for now I think💁🏼‍♂️

I've had a Jaz Jug for 15+ years now and love it. Looks similar to the VP cans. Holds over 5 gallons but I only ever put 3 or 4 in or it gets difficult to pour into a little moped tank. Usually I keep unmixed ethanol free in it and then use it to fill a 1 gallon for pre-mix.

There is a spout attachment that puts a bend in the flexible hose to make it easier to pour. Should work on most of the jugs of this style.

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

I’ve got five of the VP jugs. I use them to pack extra fuel for long UTV trips. They work fine. Better than your typical 5g cans, for sure.

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

Get a real metal 5 gal Jerry can with a fucking vent on it, failing that there are euro spec 20L cans that are somehow vented through the spout, spout is clamped down to the can with a rubber gasket, no leaks! Check garage sales of old people they often have the old school metal cans, these new "ventless" eco friendly plastic ones are straight garbage.

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

I used the flex tube type , like shown above , for years . They are OK , but they can be a bit of a hassle . My current containers work pretty good and are easy to work with . I have one of :

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

Menards by us sells a knockoff of the vp/jaz can way cheaper. I finally splurged on the 25$ or whatever, wish I had bought one years ago.

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

PD , as I see it those spouts on your cans are about as useless as tits in a boar hog

They work fine for me . I had reservations when I bought the 2 gallon , but , I couldn't think of a single place where I needed a flex spout .

Both the 2 and the 5 gallon have good holding grips on the side and bottom , if needed .

So far , I haven't had any regrets . ;)

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

I had about seven 5 gallon VP gas jugs that we’d fill with 110 octane and bring to the track back in my car racing days, they were ok and lasted me over ten years.

i've had issues with the dumb pvc plumbing cap on the hose getting stuck as fuck all the time. other than that mine is...well a large jug. not much else to say

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

Anybody tried a 2.5 gallon DEF jug? They have nice flexible spouts.

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

We throw those def jugs away at work all the time, never occurred to me. They are kinda light duty compared to a real gas can and the def is super nasty stuff so you'd want to get it real clean.

Damn I miss living by Menards. Just looked on their website and they actually have gas cans for a reasonable price.

This one looks interesting for 32$

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

Yeah Amazon has the VP jug for 35, which isn't very expensive considering it cost 20$ to fill it

I got that spout for my 5 gal plastic briggs and stratton can. $15 from Tractor Supply. Neither of the provided caps fit the can’s threads but luckily I utilized the existing spouts cap. No leaks pouring the last bits outta the can. Real test is when i try and pour it when full. And the best part to me was that I didn’t have to throw this giant piece of plastic in a landfill just yet👍🏼👍🏼 I appreciate all the advice on this, shit cans suck bad, i hate spilling precious gasolina.

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

That definitely looks like it would come in handy👍🏼

Re: VP fuel containers any good??

My dad had the harbor freight pump but since you have to take it in and out it spills a lot and is a hassle.

I just got my dad this for his birthday and he seems to like it. Pricey I know but since it seals on the can it doesnt have to be messed with. Its got auto shutoff and all that jazz so no overfilling tank. He is filling his lawntractor so might be overkill and overpriced for a 1 gallon moped though.
