79 AMF ROADMASTER Clutch Replacement

So I have a 1978 AMF roadmaster and I need to replace the clutch on it I have gotten it down to the crankshaft nut But can’t seem to get it off. If I’m doing this Ryan can someone please tell me if not how do I go along with removing the crankshaft nut so I can get to the clutch?

Re: 79 AMF ROADMASTER Clutch Replacement

I'm guessing that the nut is a left hand thread. Try turning it clockwise to loosen it.

Nope, didn’t work.

Re: 79 AMF ROADMASTER Clutch Replacement

You're using a piston stop or an impact gun, right? The crankshaft isn't just spinning?

Re: 79 AMF ROADMASTER Clutch Replacement

I’m using a impact gun with the engine lowered So it does not spin.

Re: 79 AMF ROADMASTER Clutch Replacement

If that's enough to keep the crankshaft from spinning and the nut isn't moving, try some penetrating oil.

Re: 79 AMF ROADMASTER Clutch Replacement

Update,

Got it off. Was. Normal thread pattern.

Also the clutch was non existent, pretty sure it’s asbestos too so I took extra care and mask and wetted everything up.
