I am not tall (5' 7" exactly), but I have impingement in my hips that makes shorter mopeds pretty painful to ride.
My Tomos and Pacer Super Sport are the worst. (edited)

I done this...
Tomos TTLX or simular kitted Tomos pro pipe carb and 3 parts marvel mystery oil 1 part synth trans fluid Vibram rubber pads. Add a Harley bitch seat on tail and sit on that a tad squirrelly but ubercool...
This is a 6’-3-6’4” rider on a non hydro spring forks/spring suspension magnum II but because of low handlebars he is sitting more forward then stock position
The red magnum XK has same suspension but taller stock length bars so you sit back farther not as cramped.
But a magnum MKII with hydro forks, suspension and stock rise handlebars sits up a bit higher and a bit bigger then both of those spring suspension bikes so it’s a good fit. Get one of these

I ended up going with the Moby 50v, working with an awesome member on Moped army to get it how I want it and while I am waiting I am spending a TON of time reading and learning and you are not kidding what a weird bike I look forward to the cluster F of crazy that will be working this engineering puzzle. Thank you all for your help, I will post some pics once its all done. You have all been awesome thank you for all your insights!
Welcome to the madness; good luck with your bike and don't hesitate to ask if you get stumped!

For sure thanks man, I plan to use a search function first so I am not asking the same crap that has been asked 1000 times ;P but if I can't find the answer for sure!
You’ll be like a telephone pole coming down the road

If they have not been hacked up, they are nowhere as awful as people make them out to be, but they ARE weird compared to other makes, read the wiki, and everything by Rebel Moby. Enjoy it, they are my fave moped.
Mobys are absolutely glorious when they're dialed in, but they sure can be a challenge.
I figure because I have no real prior experience maybe it won't be as weird nothing to compare it to. And thanks for the reading advice I'm on it. And I'm not even remotely concerned about how I look on it if I'm comfortably enough it's all good.

You'll get waves of glee . ;)
Congrats on the Moby, but I will mimic others and say that the Variant frame geometry is great for tall folks

Yes it is

This attitude is definitely necessary on our weird little bikes! :-)

lol totally agree, I'm an old guy I stopped caring about what people thought a decade or more ago lol. But seriously can't tell you all how fun you have made this process can't wait to share bike pics!
I'm 6'4" . I ride mopeds. that's the end of it. they are the smallest bikes on the road and there's not too much you can do to make them better aside from welding highway pegs somewhere which is pretty dumb imo. just go with it it's not so bad as long as you aren't going thousands of miles

Thanks for keeping it simple fellow giant! What bike do you ride most just curious?
i really like the Moby's big fat, cushy seat. I bought one for my wife and she then said her back wouldn't take mopeds and wouldn't try it out.Had to sell it. I miss that fine looking ped to this day,15+ yrs. later. Success to you!
I had a Puch Maxi/Newport originally I rode for years that was fairly comfortable with a long seat that was slammed on the rack. After I rode a Tomos Streetmate for awhile, that was very cushy and with slightly taller bars and regular pedals it would have been an excellent cruiser but I went with low bars and short pedals to go "fast" and clear a big pipe lol. I also rode a Honda Spree to work just fine for a few years. Just recently I bought a super short cafe franken bike, it is by the most uncomfortable moped to pedal start I've owned but once you get riding it's fine so I guess we'll see how that goes. Like I mentioned early being a little tucked only becomes a problem over long distances, but if you just stop and take a break every now and then to stretch your bones anything should be fine. Brian, for long trips, I tie a wheelchair GEL-Seat pad over the seat of Sebrings or StreetMate to limit jolts on bad roads.

Thanks for the tip, but it's more the angle of my femurs in comparison to my hips that's the issue. Impingement is a bone-on-bone thing.
Oh,okay.
Though a little height would be better! I'll give it a try on my more painful bikes. :)
Late to the conversation, but check out a Solo Odyssey if you get a chance. I'm 6' exactly and with the seat all the way down its still almost too high. I guess they were made for tall Germans :).
I’m tall too.
I’ve put my butt on ciaos all the way up to an rd50.
You can really make anything comfy with the right bars.

Any you've found that you like best? I'm not sure if the handle bars are universal I assume not but please educate me if you don't mind.

MOST mopeds have 7/8" bars in a clamp mount. There are some exceptions, such as bikes with handlebars on a bicycle style stem mount.

Thank you sir!
You're most welcome!
I should also mention that some folks like clip-on bars, which mount directly to the fork tubes themselves. Those come in various sizes, usually somewhere around 30mm.
Tomos are for the most part like Legos most body parts except the EU or oddball can be swapped with little or no mod.
