mobylette repair advice wanted

hello to all. I have a Mobylette Mobymatic that needs to be taken apart for repair. The points seem to be stuck after many years of non use. How do I get at them?

Leon,

The flywheel on yhe right side of the engine has a square socket head screw in the center. Use a 3/8" drive adaptor in an impact wrench. This is a LEFT HAND THREAD.

Leon sent me this email, so I am posting it here to continue the thread.

Thanks Ron. Is there any way of blocking the flywheel to help get the screw

released? Maybe by using a socket wrench on the right hand side nut!

Leon.

Leon, I don't think a wrench on the other end would be too good. you could over torque or shear it.

A strap wrench on the flywheel may work, but I have allways used an impact to get it off.

Ron Brown /

Casey,

He did and one of the sugestions was to get the piston just before tdc and stuff cotton rope into the cylinder to lock the piston in place. Even though Motobecane sells a piston lock that screws into the plug hole for this purpose, I have a real problem putting loads like that on the rod bearings, so I don't usually sugest it.

Simon never posted on what happened to him.

Ron
