Borescope. Do I need?

I’ve been looking at getting a low cost Borescope, Do I want one yes, Do I need one? Well maybe. For $35.00us I would say the price is right but will I ever use it.

What do you all say?

Borescope

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

Heck yeah! Imagine the places it can go.

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

Do it! Thirty five bucks is not much coin and you can use it around the house for plumbing repairs, fishing wiring thru walls and fire stops, checking out components behind your car dashboard etc. Money well wasted!

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

Being able to do your own colonoscopy is a win in my book.

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

I'm in the same boat — it seems so cool and surprisingly inexpensive. But I don't really have a use for it right now. Still, if I had one laying around I bet I'd start finding uses.

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

I bought one of the cheap ones that plug into the phone USB, works surprisingly well and I've found a lot of uses for it around the house. We dropped a bolt into the oil pan of my friends 54 Nash and we were able to fish it out with a magnet and the camera... Would have been a pulled engine otherwise to drop the pan.

Yes but you'll need two borescopes. Always best to have a second opinion...

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

I got coming on friday. I can go door to door and sell colonoscopy at home. I think maybe $50us a pop should do it.

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

I bought one for a particularly sticky plumbing problem upstairs. It was just a 50 dollar one, but served well.

EH 📣FCC of the QCB /

I got one that connected to my phone. It was cool. I would use it when I didn’t want to pull the head off a kit to inspect it. Then one day battery died and it was no more.

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

This thing is sweet. five different lenses and a very nice picture. I recommend it.

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

I might have to. Just watched a vid about diagnosing Catalytic converters by borescope in the O2 sensor hole. I need this ability.

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

We used them in the nuclear world 30 yrs. ago. We used a lens cover that fastened to keep harsh chemicals off the lens . A boroscope cost thousands of dollars back then.

Re: Borescope. Do I need?

I bought a wifi endoscope from amazon. "Nidage Inspection Camera" as listed on amazon. Seems to work well enough so far. I bought it to look at gas tanks from the inside but I'm sure I'll find plenty of other fun uses.
