Hobbit stage 6

Edward Rosario /

Hey,

I been having the worst time trying to get my hobbit running. It has a stage 6 kit on it. It has air,gas and electricity. I put it on time about 10x and still nothing. HELP

That a lot of go fast parts! What’s ur experience? Starting that beast for the first time might be a lil tricky but just keep going

Re: Hobbit stage 6

Besides timing, Spark compression n fuel. Then bam runs.

Re: Hobbit stage 6

Looks rad though, hope you get it running right. Reminds me of those hondas in the Philippines they race.

Not true carb could be way the fuck off or the kit was installed wrong

Re: Hobbit stage 6

Those maikuni tm24 Clone carbs are no good.

Did you verify your timing with a light? Have you compression tested it? Leak down test? Did you press the ignition side seal in too far? I’ve seen that happen on more than one rebuild, I like to use the oem stator to set the seal to the right depth.

There’s so many things going on here it would be hard to diagnose with the bike in front of me, but on the web it’s pretty much impossible.

Re: Hobbit stage 6

Is this yet another post about somebody who did a bunch of things all at once and wondering why it doesn't work I think it sounds like that I just finished responding to another guy talking that way. I can guarantee you from personal experience that it's the wrong way to proceed but let us know how it works out.

Re: Hobbit stage 6

Also don’t ride this bike or even sit on it with the pipe mounted to the rack, it will either bust the bracket on the pipe or break the bolts off in your exhaust flange.

Yeah I am very confused about this build. It is almost like the op spent alot of money then put them all together without any knowledge of how how things work? This must be a joke but hmm? A for effort! (edited)

Is that...

An ACORN nut on the crank? Flywheel looks destroyed too. This poor bike

Re: Hobbit stage 6

If it’s 10x1 who cares what kind of nut it is. I personally wouldn’t do that, but if it fits it ships.

Re: Hobbit stage 6

Following!

Re: Hobbit stage 6

Full setup would be helpful - issue could be a pile of things. These kits aren't that hard to get running.

If it cant run go back through and check everything. Soapy water and crank it over and look for bubbles.

Whenever a hobbit doesn't run I always suspect airleak at the intake. And that's usually where it is.

Piston in the right direction? good, fresh spark plug getting good fat spark? what about your jetting?

Re: Hobbit stage 6

Might want a belt on that water pump too.

Considering it's supposed to have the lil drive for the waterpump, i could see how it miiiight matter.

that is, if the coolant system was hooked up to anything...

Re: Hobbit stage 6

You’ll figure it out. Just keep working at it.

Update,

Yes, I am way in over my head, so I been researching and thanks to all that gave me advise on what to check for. The exhaust was welded that way. So that’s getting shortened as soon as I get it running. The trolls 😘 what can I say, i understand you need the entertainment. I know for a fact at one point you was as inexperience and ignorant as me lol nothing but love here.

1. Bolt on fly wheel is to be able to crank it. Impossible to crank with the pulley on.

2. Radiator not hooked up focused on starting it.

3.started going thru the engine and found dio reed adapter gasket didn’t look too good so ordered a new one, and reed block was cracked so I replaced it had one laying around.

4. Took the ignition off And found that the ignition side seal is leaking so I ordered new crankshaft seals. And it was pushed way to in it did not sit flush (thanks Daniel)

5. HPI instructions are horrible so I might of been using the wrong point. On the flywheel.

6. Definitely destroyed the flywheel trying to

Crank it. I order a new one from treats but the one they sent me didn’t fit. Also waiting on that.

7. I also Learned how to use a timing gun “you tube”

8. engine was not put together by me (thank god or whatever you believe in lol) A friend of mines put it together and he has built me a super fast moby. Unfortunately he is not available to finish the build.

10. I also have a mukuni 24mm that I have tried on it as well And no luck.

So I bought a compression test kit, ordered new seals And a clutch puller, once I install the new seals and intake gasket. I’ll check the timing with the gun

Set up

1. Stage6 rt water cooled kit/with hobbit adapter

2. Super stuffy crank with 12mm wrist pin

3.HPI inner rotor

4. Honda dio reed kit

5. MLM intake

6.yellow clutch springs

7.rear “stock”

8. Case machined to fit kit. (edited)

Incase anybody want to assist me feel free to reach out on IG (e.pikz) it would appreciated

Thanks (edited)

Re: Hobbit stage 6

#1 rule.

Do it yourself, don’t trust anyone else’s rebuilds.

Sounds like you learned that now. So many folks smash shit together then wonder why it only lasts 100mi.

And #2 rule

SEARCH!

If you look up hobbit engine rebuild or something like that on MA ( select “ ALL DATES”) there’s so much info here. Read read read. That’s key. That’s how I learned everything I did (edited)

Finally someone that doesn't get butthurt off the rip and can take a little flame.

Seriously though, best advice you can get has been given by JBOT. Don't trust anything someone else has done, do lots of searches (google, wiki, manufacture sites), take lots of pictures, and if you can't seem to get something off/on/adjusted right stop before you break it. It sounds like you have learned the last one already

Re: Hobbit stage 6

operator error 696 420 /

It’s difficult to decide not to troll and actually help, when the bike is so fucked up and the owner has Dunning-Kruger syndrome

Re: Hobbit stage 6

Edward Rosario /

I get it, it helps some with their insecurities and self esteem, that’s just life, I actually acknowledge that this is beyond my skill set and I am reaching out for help. And thoroughly looking into all possibilities of why my bike is not starting. IF THEY FEEL THE NEED TO TROLL THEN AMEN. Who am I to judge them, I do the same thing. I’m just glad I don’t have a manly wife controlling me . That would depression lol. (edited)
