Like who is this pandering to? The MA purists who actually think a Puch Maxi is some kind of holy grail of performance and design?

The best mopeds are so because they took/borrowed the most tech from the scooters of the era. If you're "disgusted" about a scooter person randomly showing up and asking a simple question, maybe you should re-assess your world view.

Scooter are mopeds, mopeds are scooters. Who cares.

Baloney!! Mopeds were created to save gas and not to copy scooters.! Mopeds want to be snails? Pothole divers? LOL! What are you smoking?

Scooters are ugly, potty-looking ,gas -wasting machines.

Scooter are mopeds, mopeds are scooters. Who cares.otty-looking , and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as 150 miles per gallon motorbikes.

Don, your opinion (as always) is uselessly miseducated. Modern Scooters are more efficient, more powerful, and more adept at handling any road terrain compared to vintage mopeds. And vintage scooters may not have the same economy, but the build quality is better than both in most ways, and unlike mopeds, weren't built to be thrown away.

I love mopeds, and I love scooters, and I love motorcycles.

What I don't love are the Don's and Pat's of the world spoutin' off nonsense from behind their little 4:3 window into the world .

This was fucking GOLDEN. wow. what a wild ride

Re: Leaking gas from box on left side of the rear tire

I do think that scooters should be generally shooed away from this site, and towards scooter sites, primarily because this is not the best place for finding those answers.

Like, it's kinda like mopeds, and many of us know some things about them, but it's not our focus, at least not the site's focus - there are better places to ask and recieve info about modern 4 stroke QMB 50's than a site devoted to and populated by vintage 2 stroke pedal moped enthusiasts

100%

This site is for mopeds.

If you like scooters and motorcycles more power to you, but they're just not our focus here.

Absolutely

China scooters without pedals are junk And even if they have good luck!

My daughters building in Kent Who had all those China scooter things came in A week or two after not running!

I Could not repair four out of the four who bought them all in!

All it up being scrap!

I could Not repair them if I wanted too!

If you tried to take apart anything a screw in would strip out Or out of the three the four would give you a problem unbelievable!

I mean Wow even If you don’t know what doing is there enough/ combine that with a Chinese Junk engines you are screwed!

Your old classic Moped’s last 10 to 20,000 miles these things last 10 to 20,000 minutes!

I care and definitely prefer widescreen panavision, cinemascope and ooooh imax for the win.

Open your eyes n you might see an smell and hear a difference.

Not sure what cinematic production format has to do with your views, other than being a lousy support for the tired euphemism following it.

I have ridden and worked on all manner of bikes, and to exclude a whole genre of transportation merely under pretense is pretty ignorant. Just like I wouldn't refuse to watch something filmed digitally just because I prefer emulsion.

That's it, the perfect answer to the social dilemma of moped elitism. Just ignore it!

I wish I thought of that.

You are welcome to make your own site or FB group with its own rules. If you want to create a pan-two stroke culture, or whatever, go for it. But barging in here and telling us how to think is not a recipe for happiness.

And no, having an aesthetic opinion is not "elitism."

I'm not barging in anywhere, I have been here for a long while.

And you're right, an aesthetic opinion is not elitist. I have plenty of my own. But gatekeeping people by berating them for not realizing what the general population calls a "moped" is specifically defined as "scooter" in this community, is most definitely elitist.

There are way of communicating to people that there are better resources for them to get assistance, without denigrating them or their choice of bike.

Odd to say that a singular mention of a scooter gets The Roffman and Don squad riled up about chinese quality and reliability, meanwhile the Amstar Nostalgia thread in Gen Forum thrives for 238 posts and two years of constant bumps without a constant harassment of the posters inside the thread.

Re: Leaking gas from box on left side of the rear tire

Dillon is right on...there are threads about motorcycles,vw's ,honda spees,cubs....lots of threads about "nopeds"..which are not mopeds ....to me if somebody asks a question i can answer i'm going to do my best to help and certainly not give them advice that could get them or somebody else hurt....i might not know where exactly to find it at some point and need help myself....

honestly, if this thread had been moved into the appropriate forum (off topic), it could have lived its life as a productive, helpful thread that may have found op some answers.

but here it is being all toxic on the main forum for some reason.

what i'm trying to say is WRONG FORUM FUCK FACE

also, the box on the left is your air cleaner box. if it's gassy, it could be any number of things that a scooter forum would be more equipped to help with.

That's precisely why I posted what I did in my first reply to the OP.

People are free to be wrong about whatever they like, of course, but if you call a duck a shovel you shouldn't be surprised when it isn't any good at digging holes.

Re: Leaking gas from box on left side of the rear tire

Like yeah, don't be a dick to the guy, but whining that "scooters are cool guys" seems like just as much of a waste of time and effort and people decrying them as dumb or ugly.

Re: Leaking gas from box on left side of the rear tire

Here comes another flying shovel. Better duck.

Re: Leaking gas from box on left side of the rear tire

I love both my Snark and my modern Vespa scooters. If I have an issue with my Vespa, I go to the Modern Vespa forum. If I needed assistance with my Snark, I’d go to MA. If someone asks a question about a Quingi scooter on MA, the best thing to is politely refer them to an online scooter community. It’s just that simple. (edited)

Come on guys making fun of scooter people is a time honored MA tradition. This forum is becoming more and more boring by the minute.
