FrankenMurray

FrankenMurray the 1980 Puch Murray I picked up on the buy sell here is coming along quite nicely. Changed the shocks and brakes and wheel bearings and replaced all of the starter clutch, promo pipe was already on it when bought and spare parts box had a 15mm clone 1/15/46 #1 grandpa 15mm intake 217 atomizer with 84 jet, pin on the second notch, 24 slide. Changed the 13 tooth front sprocket with the 16 and I'm doing 35 all day long. This tank was so clean it's almost unbelievable. I've spent some scratch on parts from treats and denny here in Ohio and will buy more but with the 2 mopeds I have been buying 2 of pretty much everything I've been buying as spare parts. Takes off faster than my stock maxi too, stock never catches up and FrankenMurray never 4 strokes at full throttle even downhill. I want to change out the clutch next.

And my friends are all like you're going to do the 70cc kit but no I'm not. I'm not a motorcycle guy, I'm 48 and can afford to buy any toy I want but I'm a 30+ mph guy lol

Re: FrankenMurray

Very nice bike, but I sure hate seeing a phone holder/phone on a moped. :( Mopeds are from a time where none of that garbage existed, it's all about the sound of the engine, the wind and the scenery. F a screen. Leave that damnable thing at home, (phone) be truly free! You don't need no gps, ride wot always, who cares how long your ride was, YOU know. Great looking bike, learn to enjoy it tech free!

Well when you have a 15 year old riding without a speedometer and it's all 25 here in Lebanon you gotta do something. The tip broke off and I'm waiting for a new cable dude. 🙃

Re: FrankenMurray

Not long enough. As you can see it was mounted wrong.

I also build arcade machines if that isn't retro God status to a semi troll. 🙃 I'm a very successfull single dad of 4 and not seeking the approval of anyone. Just sharing the moped stuff I've been doing is all.

You don't need a speedometer? Mopeds are slow by definition, cops don't care, f the smartphone. Do like the arcade game though!

Re: FrankenMurray

My son has been pulled over twice lol. The first time was not wearing eye protection.

I would ride my moped to the arcade when I was 14.. it's all coming back together.

The reason I wanted to share was because of the absolute joy I get riding my mopeds, and riding them with friends and my kids is even better. It's something very unique and not easy to find and it's what makes it so very special. My boys will remember this summer for ever as we are all becoming small engine mechanics together. Mopeds are a amazing for young and old alike.

Re: FrankenMurray

That’s a clean bike! You sure it’s a Murray? Looks like a Series B to me, which is even cooler

Re: FrankenMurray

Can you mount a more period appropriate phone, perhaps something with a rotary dial?

I was going to say, I don't see any Franken or Murray in this bike.

A nice Series B though.

The cops do that when they first encounter a rider.me it's the Helmut and eyewear.

Untill recently eyewear wasn't required. Helmut laws are weird in PA 21 yo mclass 2yrs exp.

Well I got a c class. If I wear eyewear my eyes tear.to the point of blindness. Being 55 I clearly rode over 2yrs prolly spent that much idling at lights.

Every time there's a rookie I get pulled I think the cops made it a rite of passage

2 am in the middle of the project. Held not cuffed sitting on the curb as all the liwriders and. Gs laughing for 30 minutes while he checked the statutes.

Once stopped w backpack full of martial Arts equipment from a flea market when pulled he asked do you have any drugs or weapons on you?

I go wow now that you mention it I have 1 gram of the extract and a quarter ounce of pot and a bag of sias numbchucks and katana blades...

I have a medical licence. Had the receipts for both as for the weapons he giggles flea market I go yep. He had the other guys on duty stop and laugh they took selfie. I look like Charles Manson.

Re: FrankenMurray

Looks great! I've always liked that red metallic color. You're in Lebanon, just outside of Cincinnati? Small world...

Re: FrankenMurray

Chad Tufts /

I had to get him a helmet with eye protection... He got pulled over again just to see if he had a license.

HAHA The phone I WAS using until I was shamed out of it was an old unused phone with gps.. I didn't want his 800 dollar iphone flying off going 35..

How can I tell if its Murray or Series B?? I hope its series b, I heard the Murray had some bad welding done.

It's Murray..

Re: FrankenMurray

When we say Murray we are referring the bike called Murray, which is basically this bike with a free spirit tank that says Murray on in. Pretty sure this bike is a series b manufactured by Murray, who also manufactured the Murray
