New to mopeds but I picked this thing up with only 300 miles on it. It starts with starting fluid but I’ll probably need to get a new carb since it’s missing parts. Any good replacements? I plan to do a 70cc it’s got an a35 on it.
It’s a Kickstart, sweet!
I’d post for a used stock 14.12 carb or the parts you need on buy+sell to get the bike running perfect first
Then if all good keep stock cylinder, get a cheep performance pipe, black cap and mesh filter, around 61jet, 22 tooth rear sprocket and go low 40s mph with not much clutch wear
70cc kits, big carbs big/hi rpm pipes the clutches wear out really quick but stock with just a mild pipe, filter and upjet the bike will have a good service life
A new clone carburetor is way worse than a used genuine dellorto
Do you recommend deleting the oil system and just mixing it? I’ve heard they can be finicky. Treatland has most of the parts I need. I just don’t know which dellorto to get. The bike was cheap enough that I can splurge for some better parts just in case I want to upgrade in the future. And for the exhaust. Biturbo?
Delete the oil system and premix.
A biturbo is a terrible pipe. I'm personally fond of the Technigas Next R I have on my tomos (similar to an estoril, which is a great pipe but hasn't been available in a while).
Moped Division is also a great place for tomos parts: https://www.mopeddivision.com/moped-make/tomos/tomos-a55-moped-tecnigas-next-r-exhaust-chrome/

That’s an a55 engine pipe ^ not a a35 engine pipe The cylinder angle is different
I don’t mind the biturbo pipe if it’s just for stock cylinder and the two piece a35 biturbo with the large diameter header rips pretty good though I do like the estroil better though
Yep, you're right, here's the A3 / A35 version:

I have used the A55 version of this pipe on an A3 though, it just requires making a little bracket. The stock exhaust bracket on A3 frames always breaks off anyway.
did you see improvements in the top end or low end? I live in a pretty hilly area. That's not a bad price though.
I didn't even bother to run the bike with the stock cylinder, carb, or exhaust, so I can't really answer that.
Like what’s been said, fix your oem carb or replace with a good genuine dellorto. I would check and service your pump/reservoir/lines/vacuum and hope to be good with gassing up at the pump and running oil injection with an expansion chamber and hi flow intake. No air leaks and a touch of saber in the tank never hurts too.
If that is an a55 then it is probably not a 14sha but one of those Phbv 17mm carbs. I personally hated that thing as it seemed to not want to be tuned at all. I believe those take the same jets as the sha carbs tho. It has been a while since I messed with one so I'm probably wrong on the jets.
I would normally say rebuild the carb rather than purchase new, but in this case a nice 16sha would be a good replacement.

First of all that’s not a A55 bike it’s a A35 engine bike
Second, A55 sprints/ST’s comes with PHVA 14 carbs not a phbv 17 which there is no such carb on a a55.
A PHVA is a wonderful carb to tune that has a starter jet with fuel enrichment circuit not a choke, a pilot jet/idle jet, a Needle with many clip settings, a main jet and a air screw too so you could have optimal air fuel mix at every RPM,
Due to its oval bore design a PHVA 14 carbs flows more like a 15+mm carbs and a PHVA 17.5 flows like a 19mm carb but with better throttle response, A lame single jet 16.16 sha has a crappy rpm range compared to it,
If ya can’t tune a phva one should give up mopeds/small motorbikes
Yeah I found a couple rebuild kits for the 14.12 on Amazon but since they were almost the same price as a cheap clone I just figured I could rebuild mine with the parts off that. The petcock was screwed up so once my treatland order gets here I should be set. I went with a techno boss to get me by until the estroril pipes get back in stock.
Nice shade of blue. I like it. Need foot pegs or something for your feet.
Thank you. It’s got pegs. I took that side off so I could get it home.
Ya got a black & blue theme started there. Finish it by blacking the wheels, rear shock springs and fork tube bellows. (edited)
Looks like a mid to late 90’s Sprint.
