Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

I posted what I have, which isn't much. Some stuff from DOS and the bottom end is all I have.

When I get parts I can actually put together, I'll do a full build thread.

Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

I'm gonna send some wheels but it's gonna be expensive. but it's a fun idea and I doubt anyone else is gonna throw down to send wheels so I'm gonna do it.

The question is, would I send regular snowflakes or 5 stars to make a nuice bike? Or do I send some 10 inch mini wheels because it's funny and that is what I'd build

Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

WiillD i save.on wheel shipping by cutiing.the box to fit the wheel like a pizza.. you.might have a better way and is just a suggestion that has cut my cost down..

Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

Wheels would awesome WillD

You don’t have to go it alone though. If you planned on buying them, this would be a great time to take advantage of Treats discount and other members could chip in for the small parts.

I know it isn’t a crystal clear process, but I really want someone to try it.

Let me know if you want to go that route.

Ten inch wheels would be cute, but I want to build a bike someone can ride, not a circus bike. And I don't want the pipe dragging the ground.

But whatever normal size wheels would be great. And it's gonna have fat tires and full fenders, probably with side skirts, so don't "waste" your fancy wheels, because they're going to be mostly covered up.

Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

I actually have some wheels I could send for this.... some 17in puch spokes. They need new bearings and things tho. No brake plates... is that gonna be an issue?

I can hold off and see of someone has a more complete set to send.

Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

WillD vs Jay

Best wheels wins

Round 1... FIGHT

Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

HAHA nice, a battle of wheels. I am waiting til staurday to review the piles, I want to find something nice but like usable size, decent parts. Maybe one I have new brake pads for. and probably same side sprocket/drum so it works better w puch parts.

Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

Hopefully will has some complete wheels for this as what I have are basically just rims with hubs.

They do seem straight tho.

So I feel like a bad contributor…. I was going to power wash the outside of the kit but I figured I need to send it out when I had time and stop dragging my feet so it can be in Baird’s hands.

Here is the jist of it. Everything looks a little hazy because it is so humid today I hit it with some carb cleaner and could not keep the air from condensing on it for pics.

This kit was on a e50 I did for a guy and it was fast with a circuit pipe. He claimed 50/50 but he is also super skinny. I would say it is a solid 43. It was faster then most e50s with a 70 kit. I love the open transfer restricted top ends with the 8mm plug in them. They have so much potential. Looking back on my porting I’m happy with the port timing but I did not make everything as perfect as usual. Just so people know the intake is matched for one of those chepo sideways cast intakes for a 15:15. So if anyone has an extra kicking around.

I think it could use a fresh set of rings. I hit it with the hone but broke a stone because my hone does not like open transfers as much as I do. After honing it the ring gap is at like 0.0105” it was super tight getting the 0.011” feeler gauge in there.

Anyways it is in the mail and should be there Monday.

Almost forgot the head. Piston crown and head have been polished but the condensation makes them not appear as shiny as they are.

The exhaust should be matched for the DOS circuit pipe. This was matched for a Tencho circuit not sure if the ID on the header is the same. (edited)

Ha! I got one of these intakes.

In that case I should also have a complete 14:12sha I can include. I'll throw a 58 in it, maybe that will be close to what it needs.

Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

Giuseppe has already covered a carb and intake by doing a polished 14 Bing and matching intake.

From the example pieces he posted, it should be beautiful too.

Here is another teaser of polished parts.... a lever from my Kinetic....I took off the paint and the cast logo from this aluminum lever and polished it up.... before and after for comparison.

I took the liberty of moving this to the bottom so it doesnt confuse. I read it the other way before as well. Hope that is ok.

Absolutely

All help is welcome.

Had a chance to start dressing some of the Bing carb parts....these bits just need a little final buff and they are done. Hopefully I’ll get more tomorrow after work....

He gave a basic run down in this thread. Go back a page and see.

Re: Community Build and Moped Giveaway

Here is a quick update.... I knocked off the crud and gave the carb body a first pass ...I will go in with small buffs and get all the recesses buffed up and then go back over the whole thing with a fine buff / polish.... just wanted to give you all an update on this carb. I will also be refitting it with new seal, gaskets, etc....
