30 Ballpark Challenge

One of my moped bucket lists this summer is that I want to ride my best looking bike into Cleveland and snap some pictures in front of Progressive Field. For me it looks like 32 miles each way.

I'd like to challenge everyone to at least get a picture of you and your bike or a bunch of your gang and their bikes in front of all 30 Major League Parks this summer.

I guess you don't actually have to RIDE it there like I plan to in case it isn't safe or possible, but I think it would be something fun to do. I'll probably do it on a weekday when the team is out of town.

Re: 30 Ballpark Challenge

Just ride it to a game and park in the bike rack, That be rad passing thru all the stupid traffic.

When I read the thread I was really hoping you were going to say that you plan to ride your moped to all 30 ballparks.

My bucket list does include catching a game in all 30 parks. So far I only have a pathetic 3.

Side Note: Camden Yards is a fantastic place. What made it even better was watching Chris Davis crush a 3 run dinger off the Yankees (because fuck the pinstripes)

I DID map out the 30 Ballpark drive with Microsoft Mappoint 2013 once. The software took 45 minutes to calculate all driving permutations the get the shortest distance to visit all 30 ballparks. One would have to drive around 11,000 miles. Imagine driving legs from St Pete, FL to Arlington, Texas or LA to Seattle?

Every once in a while people do it in 30 days and see 30 games. It would be very tough to coordinate the shortest drive with the schedule of each home team. A saving grace could be NYC, Chicago, and LA, which have more than one team. You could even catch 2 games in a day if one played at noon and the other at 7 pm.

I live almost as close to 3 minor league parks as I do to the Indians.

So let's open up the challenge to minor league parks as well, seeing as baseball and mopeds are great summer activities.

And if you want to do NFL stadiums, too, I'm fine with that. Progressive Field and First Energy Stadium are about a mile from each other.

Don't make me do everything.

Here's a recent acquisition in front of PNC park in Pittsburgh.

It's sad that I had to drive to Pittsburgh when I live so close to Progressive Field in Cleveland.

And since the two parks are so close, it wasn't any more effort to drive around the block to get to Heinz Field.

In actuality, I ended up at Heinz first, then PNC. I screwed up something and Google Maps sent me to the parking lot in from of the football stadium first.

Re: 30 Ballpark Challenge

I grabbed a pic at Pnc park on my ride home today.

Re: 30 Ballpark Challenge

This would be easy if I was still in Milwaukee, Miller park (now it's the am fam slam clam) was a regular destination for our weekly rides... They have a bunch of huge curvy roads to handle all the stadium traffic, makes for a great ride.

Maybe I'll take a detour past our local ballfield here, it was a WPA project and it sits on top of an island in a small lake, it's pretty rad.

Re: 30 Ballpark Challenge

Took a quick pic on my way back west this evening. Roll tribe! Ill come back and get another after they change the sign.

Went to Detroit to visit Rockettman and bring a bike back to a customer in Lorain. Had to twist his arm to use his truck to haul the bike.

Richard (Rockettman) was picking up an orange Pinto from a Wisconsin couple in the town of Wadsworth, IL. I offered to use my car to help save on gas. The drive from Detroit to Wadsworth would take us past Guaranteed Rate (White Sox) and Wrigley (Cubs) Fields. I put on my Motron Shirt that my daughter ordered from a fellow MA member a few months ago and posed with a Motron G4 model I got from eBay several years ago. The plan was to use the model at White Sox on the way up early in the morning to avoid the people during the 1 pm game and a real ped at Wrigley on the way back because Cubs were away, but it was too much hassle to take the Pinto back out of the trunk and reassemble it for a quick picture.

Some of you might be asking, "Hey, I Google Mapped Wadsworth and Milwaukee. Why didn't you spend 90 more minutes driving for one more picture since you were that close?" Well, you see, there was a whiney baby in MY CAR that didn't want to do that for such a stupid endeavor. The same whiney baby was perfectly fine taking his own pictures of both parks...

My daughter just graduated from the University of Cincinnati with her Master's in Nursing. After the ceremony and a lunch at Hooters, her idea, I asked the wife and son to indulge me on my quest for another stadium pic. This t-shirt and model have some miles on them. Five down, 25 more to go!

I was down in Arlington for work a total of 6 weeks from June through October and could never seem to get schedules aligned to make it to a Rangers game. I will undoubtedly be there again next year so hopefully I can figure things out and get work to pay for a game.

Re: 30 Ballpark Challenge

Congrats to yer kid and cool that you’re keeping up with this!

Re: 30 Ballpark Challenge
