Bringing back the rotary engine...

Check this out: https://www.liquidpiston.com/xmini

Under applications it specifically lists 'Mopeds." Who's gonna invest?

That would be sweet, such a neat feeling to feel a rotary engine rev through it’s range🥰 👍🏼

Re: Bringing back the rotary engine...

3hp at 10,000rpm? Thats not as high as conventional 2 stroke.

Re: Bringing back the rotary engine...

Yeah I wonder what's up with that? Some kind of scammy thing?

The problem any of these companies have is the economy of scale is so whopping good on a conventional recip piston engine, even if you totally tooled this thing too sell as many as hf tools sells predator engines, you'll never get the $$/kw even close because they've had 100+ years of mass production and all the parts are so cost reduced.

Plus like, seriously, nobody is doing i.c. right now, shits over.

Re: Bringing back the rotary engine...

That gocart was lookin slow. Would be fun to have 3 exhausts tho.

Re: Bringing back the rotary engine...

is this lame attempt at a wave disk engine as researched by Cal Poly Pomona and Michigan State, trying to combine the characteristics of a constant volume otto cycle engine and constant pressure diesel cycle?

That only works at a fixed rpm, like a turbine

modern 2t is at 25hp for 50cc, if you aren't at that you are behind

Re: Bringing back the rotary engine...

If you really want to invest look into Achates Power

Re: Bringing back the rotary engine...

When you realize the first jet turbines were started with a moped engine

Start up the spacecraft, Hannes.

Ingersol rand 2t hemispheric motor. 42hp @ 7500 rpm weighs 40lbs 83% efficiency.

Had them since ww2.

yeah right

US technology at the time was starting wildcats with shotgun shells

me 109 had an inertia starter driven by an audi/ auto union motor

Emergency sump pumps on carriers.

Hek why not remake the bugotti t1 t2 and t3 motors suppressed technology.

Why do we use magnets to generate power instead of fur and plastic why doesn't everyone have a ground battery why didn't they keep expanding analog tube tech and blimps instead of rockets.

Make one with moped cylinders gotta machine a custom crank make it like a gattling gun one stationary firing point stick inside wheel hub I think I gave seen something like this in the 20s

Re: Bringing back the rotary engine...

Norton and Suzuki both built rotary powered motorcycles but the EPA pretty much killed them off because like early 2 stroke the used oil in the combustion process to lubricate the engine. Now old Plugs has mandated everything to go electric by 2035.

A friend used to work for Raytheon and got his hands on a rotary powered target droan made by Norton, that was cool. He couldn't keep it but it was neat to look at.

I like my rx7, but I also like 2 strokes. Idk if a rotary moped would be any fun to drive, with even less torque

Yeah, the lack of low rpm grunt would be a killer. Beautiful RX-7 buddy🤘🏼 I had a 2nd gen for a bit, not as light and cool as those though 👍🏼

Re: Bringing back the rotary engine...

I've fiddled with the idea of hanging an old sachs rotary on a motobecane.

I have a 2nd gen 6 port to put in this once the 12a blows
