yeah, in reality it was pretty quick, took about 40ish minutes with the die grinder, due to me putting on the cylinder and my half-assed die grinder skills lol

you don't need to sand that much, i just did it because my die grinder wouldn't fit flush. (edited)

Re: Qt50 build progress!

Wow, you are sure making up for all the time that bike sat idle! :) Looking good!

Yup, hoping for a more RPM out of this kit as i know the 2 stroke scooter engines run 10k+ regularly.

Ill need to match the cases heavily and clean up the ports, hoping on seeing a lot more power out if it once im done. (edited)

Re: Qt50 build progress!

Looks like just that top cylinder fin got busted off .

I'd run it and wouldn't worry much about it as the head will dissipate the majority of heat .

ayy! Didn't bail just yet!!

Currently, JB welding the other half of the case since id like to get a better surface for sealing, plus the ability to actually match the transfer ports to the MAX!

(ignore the dust and metal shavings plz) (edited)

Alrighty!

Sanded the jb weld flat enough, ported the bottom end (conservatively)

Made my own custom cork gasket and slapped on a jog pipe!

Had to cut the mounts of the pipe, however, bailing wire works just as well ;)

Pulls HARD on the top end (too fast for 2in brakes)

Top end is roughly 50-55mph.

Too fast yo!

(yes, spark plug cap is falling off, i know) (edited)

Re: Qt50 build progress!

Rad! I bet this has ALL the torque. :-)

Oh yeah, once you get above 10mph it just goes!

Pipe and kit seems to be perfect for the budget basher setup. All and all I've got under 80$ in the top end AND pipe.

Possibly get a liquid cooled setup in the future ;)

Re: Qt50 build progress!

That's awesome! Does the battery absorb the extra voltage and save the bulbs?

Did you get an exhaust put on?

Re: Qt50 build progress!

I had a really good idea for my QT50 project back in the day. My idea was to remove the gas tank from the frame run a bar like a top tank and run it like a top tank it'll be nice and low to the ground and I think would look really cool. Good job with your build but I like your exhaust

Re: Qt50 build progress!

^ Someone has done just that....it was posted here years ago, it looked REALLY good.
