Heres the sick stock engine, im definitely restoring it after this bike is together. Crank was completely seized, the bike was near a beach for sometime and had water inside the engine that rusted the mains. It came with a 15 SHA, factory CDI, small taper crank and a third transfer setup. If anyone has some additional information on this stock engine please let me know, id love to hear it.

Heres the engine mount, its way cool. It uses a rubber bushing? Or isolater? Idk what its called, but it connects the 2 mounts together. Im guessing that this helps great with vibrations. The engine mount has been cleaned up and new hardware was used in the picture.

Here we have the interesting automatic decomp contraption. When you kick the kickstart, it pulls a cable and switched the decomp on. There is also a lever for it incase the lever fails. In later pictures there is a cool little function on the clutch, incase the kickstart fails too.

Heres the stock clutch pulley, I am just amazed at the construction of it. It comes with steel shoes, a clutch post brace, big post and smaller shoe pads(idk if thats a good thing lol). Ive found that the honda hobbit doppler yellow springs with the steel pads are my favorite setup for takeoffs (stock spx shoes work great with standard 103 doppler pullies, thats what I tested them on.)

Here is the setup with normal 103 doppler shoes on, sorry I took off the stock ones to test on the other bike. As you can see on the brace, the fins that stick out are there as an emergency start function for the clutch bell to grab onto.

as you can see toward the middle of the bell, there is a little circular peg that you move in toward the inside of the bell so that the peg can contact the clutch brace blades turning the engine over, then retracting with rpm (hopefully) your doppler clutch dont have shit on the stock spx one!

Happy to see this one getting done up. You're doing a great job cleaning it up and it's fun reading along as you dig into and learn about it. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Heres the gear on the back of the clutch that engages with that big kickstart gear in the previous pics. When you kick that lever down the starter gear moves out on the shaft spline and connects to the clutch.

Found a picture from when I took the clutch off with the stock pads, and then the spocket with a missing tooth hahaha. I already have a replacement on there!

I got this front brake setup from a 90s cbr600, for free. Long story, but ended up almost getting shot lol. Cleaned and threw in a new master cyl sight glass.

Kickstart lever de rusted, I really like this rust remover as it is safe on everything, even plastic and its okay to dump in the gutter. It cleaned up some of these parts perfectly.

Picked up this set of body parts from Keith, they are supposed to be for a moby. But when do you see a full set with a windsheild? Ill make them work somehow. Ill paint them last after ive mounted them.

Bottom end went in great! I just had to modify the stock engine mount for the polini intake. If anyone has any questions on that let me know. There was a whole other writeup for it lol.

The other engine is my friend Dannys, we had a fun engine building party! Mopeds are all about having fun with friends and experimenting with new ideas for me.

Checking to see if the piston clears exhaust port with the included gasket, lol it didn’t so I made a new 1.5mm base gasket to clear it. Its super close but its good. I think? Lol after that, I moved on to checking squish and I was at 1.8mm so I had some work ahead of me to get to 1.1~mm. Pulled the glass from my moms coffe table and got to work. Did figure 8s for a few hours periodically checking.

I then matched the exhaust port to stuffer size, if anyone can tell me what that cutout in the exhaust stuffer is that would be awesome.

Here we have my rudimentary way of checking what degree my ports open lol. This is my first engine that ive ever checked this stuff and let me tell ya, im doing to every engine, its cool!
