We have a couple Yamaha Stings and decided why not have a little build off - Gator vs. Potato. The rules are this - there are no rules. Do whatever you want to it. Performance matters but so does style. If you know anything about the two of us, Potato will dominate in performance, but I can polish the hell out of a turd.

First things first that pink seat has got to go!
SEM makes a interior paint for vehicles that is designed to bond itself to vinyl, plastic and even carpet. Since it’s impossible to find parts for these bikes. I decided to paint the seat.
Next up is a deep clean and paint. I decided to paint the plastics factory white. Usually this is something I do last but since I’m waiting on the QT50 kickstart lever I figured why not paint it.

Rad! I slept on nabbing these years ago. Too much of a gamble for me having never seen in it in person. Glad I passed tbh, I would have had to murder my towny for parts because shipping a whole bike just for parts would have made it not worth it. (edited)

I have a revival frame and I've been wondering what to do with it, seeing that pic with the plastics off, it totally clicked!
You gotta love it when stuff breaks... or in this case it was like this when I got the bike. No matter, I fixed this mopery.
I did this since half of the splines were missing. Now the kickstart will actually stay on.
Never seen a sting before but it is the first yamaha I have wanted. This is fun!

Damn you painted the black sting white? Black is a rare color for those bikes.

Just got some parts from Dos cycles for the build. Malossi 70 kit, Boyesen reeds (who knows if they really work so whatever), Gianelli Derbi Flatreed High Boy pipe (I'm gonna hack it) and a rad ignition cover that is +10% HP because it says "racing" on it. Watch out Potato!

Matt that pipe is dented anyway. It won’t work. Just give it to me so I can put it on a TOMos.

The bottom end on mine was locked up. So I split the cases and through some fresh bearings and seals in. There is also a detailed teardown video on my YouTube channel.
