Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

Terbo Speghetti /

So the idea is that we rent a go kart track for a whole day in the spring. The one being looked at is just outside Milwaukee, but the track isn't set in stone. Neither is a date, since it makes more sense to have everyone's input on that.

There will probably be some racing, but mostly a chance to ride and get to know your bike before any real rallies.

So, any takers? The list is at 5 people right now, but needs to have at least 20 to make it work financials-wise.

I guess reply here or DM me? (edited)

Does sound like a fun time . Hope you get it together .

Take a bunch of non incriminating pics . ;)

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

Yup I’m down, post this up on the Cranks and Casseroller’s fb groups. I know you’ll fill those spots very quickly I bet.

Cool, I'll add your name to the list. I'm not on FB, but I think I'd rather have it fill up with a little less gusto.

You on groupme? I figured I would put us all in a group to talk date and stuff.

Am not but would get it to stay in contact about it

Man I wish I was closer for this!

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

Yeeeeaaaaa depending on the date I'm probably down.

Depending on date and cost I'd be willing to do it. Only an hour outside of Milwaukee.

I'm interested

It's getting faster in here...

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

I might be interested.

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

Ok average speed is coming back down

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

I'd be down, bet some of the other omaha folk would be in too. What do you think price point would end up being?

Depending on what you're feeling as organizer and availability, I bet people would be in for a weekend of it. Camp out n bullshit & tune and push your limits. That's been my experience with mopedgp type events, good times. Makes justification for longer drives easier

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

Jordan, no way we're gonna be able to rent a track for a full weekend. The finances are not feasible.

If the drive is too far for you to justify, that's a bummer, but might just have to be how it is this time. Maybe you can set something similar up closer to home? Not trying to make this a full-on rally/race/party. Not the first time anyway.

Does everyone have groupme? Do moped people still do that app? I actually kinda hate it. But I'll PM links to people later this morning for some kind of way to keep track.

If you want to keep informed Jordan, I'll send it your way too

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

Can just about guarantee we'll find some trouble to get into in Milwaukee the night after, and you can probably plan on finding a spot to crash. If you want to ride the world's most boring OHV park we can hit up/camp at Bong.

It's kinda tough to plan anything right now, but glad someone is trying

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

Yea dude I feel that. Track time is fun any way it is, keep me posted!

I support bong for weed reasons

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

A cheaper alternative is to see if they have open practice days, instead of shelling out thousands for a private event.

The kart tracks here in California charge around 30-50 bucks a day, per person. You might have to split up your time with karts and super motos, but call ahead and ask what the off days are.

I've been to practice days where there's only a few other karts and bikes, and spent plenty of time on the track.

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

It's not thousands. Not even one thousand. Those prices you talked about paying are what we're looking to get per-person. And we'd have pits and stuff probably

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

Depending on the track in California, it's anywhere from $1000-2000 a day for a private rental. That's what I was basing the price on. Awesome for you guys if it's cheaper.

This still happening? Spring is right around the corner already.

I'm still down, but I pictured things being further along vaccine-wise. Plus I didn't have any luck finding tracks, only got one email back.

I’m down, if it ever seems feasible. I love reasons to make trips up north.

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

I'd also be down, assuming I have my bike finished by whatever day it ends up being.

If anything, more motivation! otherwise, i'd gladly contribute to the cause and just stand around and drink beers or something.

Re: Moped track day. Midwest. Interested?

Right now, the biggest problem is finding track(s) that we could run our bikes on. Might even have to get some kind of event insurance to convince a place, I dunno.

I've also had very little luck getting in touch with people, but that could be down to winter. Might try calling some karting shops and see what I can find out, but any help of any kind is welcome! (edited)
