Those who might call themselves pioneers even.
How did you guys end up getting your riding groups together? I guess in larger cities it is a bit easier, so I guess it's more of a question for those in a middle to small sized city. Did you have to have multiple bikes and let your friends ride one before they purchased their own? Was it divine providence or just random happenstance?
I wanna know, how you first met! If you started on your own how'd things start for you?

There is a ma DVD, I found it at a Pawn shop. Prob is on you tube somewhere.
It’s hard, my club the wizards has been around 10 years now and we had 6 solid members that I love to death Like brothers, and a new prospect.
Having a spare bike for pals to ride will certainly help. When you get 3 pals who all have bikes make weekly meetups a thing. Keep your group strong, even if you don’t ride every single week, hang out, drink beer eat pizza. Wrench on stuff together. It’s crazy man, mopeds are awesome but hanging with my moped friends is at least half why I still love them after all this time.

All 6 of our group meet up at the spot with the garage, tools, and knowledge. I honestly had no idea anyone else in my town rode mopeds until i spotted my neighbor with one and lo and behold a guy down the street from us does small cylinder bonneville runs with moped engines and all the sudden we're thick as thieves.

I did, blew my mind, cost me a whole two dollars, and it worked, sadly my DVD player does not work anymore lol, kind of ironic? :) I at least got to watch it once. It's a treasure of sorts. Kind of...sort of...you know.
Word to the wise, do not play this DVD to one's gf to try and explain the bikes in your dining room, she is already there, don't make it worse...lol ;)

This helps a lot.
The biggest thing I always did was make sure that there is a weekly meeting at the same place, same time, every week, no matter what, in the days before Facebook a lot of the people in our gang just 'showed up' to that meeting. Also don't forget to try to keep things team-19 friendly aka not a bar or pick a bar where kids can get in or have somewhere to hang.
Also once you get 3 or 4 people don't let it get clique-y, make sure you are just as inclusive and welcoming to the 5th an 15th person as number 2.
Right on, thanks guys! I had seen the MA documentary years ago, but revisiting with a different mindset definitely helped. Guess I'm gonna start trying to acquire a couple more bikes. Spied a super dope Pinto yesterday, I'll have to inquire about that one. And yeah, definitely wanna try and keep it 18+ friendly. When I first started getting into mopeds a few years ago it was a build project with my son. He got pulled over on it and let it sit to the side. He just recently looked at it and was like we should ride these things, start a group like we talked about forever ago. He's 20 now and one of the coolest guys I know Anyway! Thanks for the help!
Having space to wrench and tools is a huge thing. I'm in a suburban setting and if there was a place to wrench with someone else to run ideas past/have check my dumb stuff I would be all over it.
Look for a space and for tools that will make it possible to do things you can't yet.
Riding mopeds is very fun, but the problem solving and creativity involved in upgrading and modifying them is the star of the show for me and a lot of us.
