1980 Vespa Grande

I have 1980 Vespa Grande.

The owners manual states that the brakes in fluid in the housing.

Can anyone help me with what kind of fluid and where exactly it goes?

Your question is kind of unclear but there is no brake fluid. It's cable drum brakes front and rear.

Didn't know there was anyone with mopeds in Andover, my family has a trailer at Holiday Camplands over there

This is what the owners manual states:

OIL LEVEL IN REAR HUB

Before using the vehicle check there is

oil in the rear hub (co·ntent: 2 fl. oz.) GB

when the machine is upright the oil lever· must be level with the· lower edge

of the refuelling hole

Right so that's the transmission, not the brakes. You need a little bit of gear oil in there, there's a bolt on the side that gear oil should trickle out of when it's full. Unless I'm thinking of Honda Hobbits and Vespa's aren't like that

Re: 1980 Vespa Grande

No, you're right Nick. The transmission has a bolt in the filler. It should dribble slightly when full. Use 80/90w high pressure gear oil.
