Puch Maxi model years & series

Which series does a 1979 Maxi fall into? Is it more like the 1978 models or more like the 1980/81 models?

Thanks!

Small difference from 78 to79. 79 are more like 78. Not sure what you are looking for. Tail lights, reflectors on racks, but all that is blurry until 80. Maybe Ken will chime in with a more definitive response. Be clear he’s a little testy.

1978 ,

but if it’s just a plain Maxi Model not Newport, maxi luxe, Sport MKII etc, it’s the same e50 engine as 80-81 model that has open port aluminum cylinder, 14mm bing and intake (if 2hp) Otherwise all maxis had High torque cylinders and only 12mm bing,

They dropped Maxi II, Newport L, maxi sport with e50, Red magnum XK, Silver magnum MKII But kept the plain Maxi model for 1980-81

Thanks for that.

Reason I'm asking - a member with a "plain" 1979 Maxi wants to buy one of my factory service manuals, but I only have 1978 and 1980/81 editions. So naturally, I want to send him whichever of the two is more appropriate to his bike.

So it's the 1980/81 edition, then?

Thanks!

The older one because the rear wheel assembly/bearings and other minor things may be different
