Wheel Bearings

Hi Yall,

As of yesterday the mags are being painted on my 94 Tomos Sprint. I was wondering what to use to lubricate/grease the wheel bearings inside the mags. Now that I have it all apart this can save me some headaches later, so I need to know what to use. (WD 40?? Automotive grease?? Silicone Lubricant?? Nothing?? Special Wheel Bearing Grease?? Any help will be appreciated.

Automotive or wheel bearing grease will do fine. Lubricants like WD-40 and silicone are too light, and won't last very long for wheel bearings. Those types of lubricants are for loosening things up, or lubing very tight or small machinery (like lock cylinders or door hinges).

Make sure ya clean em off real good with some kinda of parts/brake cleaner before you repack them with the bearing grease. Check and make sure they are still round and smooth... if not, repalce them.
