I had an old piston and I wanted to try engraving. I don’t have an engraver, so I used a dremel. I need to buy the right tool so I can make something better. But this came out better than I expected.
Piston art
Re: Piston art
Impressive! Papa....
Re: Piston art
classy
Re: Piston art
Think it would make me go faster?
Re: Piston art
only if you made it into a super heavy earring
Re: Piston art
Send a piston to treatland with the logo on it. Bet they would love it and ship ya some more busted pistons to play with.
Hope ya plan to do more. I would love to see more done.
Re: Piston art
I was trying to think of some other things to fill this piston up. Treats themed images aren’t too hard for a beginner. I’ll see what I can do.
Re: Piston art
You’ve got some steady hands there
Re: Piston art
Papa !!! I think you're doing uber fabulous work with your Dremel ! Jeezopete - is that the FIRST thing you've done ? Are ya kiddin' me ? Brilliant - Brilliant work. Thank you for sharing that.

Re: Piston art
Thanks everyone.
It is my first attempt at artsy dremel work.
The first time I touched a rotary bit to nikasil, the tool ran away; like Garth with that impact wrench in Wayne’s World.
Porting moped cylinders taught me everything I needed to know.
Just draw what you want and use a tiny bit to stipple the shaded areas and around the outside to outline. Color with a sharpie and sand off the high spots. Repeat as many times as necessary until you get the desired look.
Re: Piston art
Re: Piston art
Keep having fun sir! Gave me an idea for our moped crew logo.
Thanks!
Re: Piston art
Wow nice job if you flipped it over and had a bigger piston would make really cool pen hold for a desk.. I would be interested

Just take the top off the piston . Or , drill holes through the top to accommodate writing utensils . ;)
Re: Piston art
I have a vw piston as an ash tray in my shop. Ne cooler if it was engraved with bunch of skulls and shit
Re: Piston art
Re: Piston art
So I see we have some piston fans here...
Anyone interested in some piston shoes or piston pants??
Re: Piston art
I like that neklace but I think the beer can tab chain makes it look toooooo trashy. But really cool way of doing a neklace like for some kind of boozy beach event.
Re: Piston art
Sorry no piston beds here.
Re: Piston art
Seriously tho, its not really a piston thread till DoNoHiO chimes in with some nonsense. LOL!

That is some rad style man. Looks good on the denim. Probably equally good against an Ocean Pacific muscle shirt.
Is that a pack of American Spirits in one pocket and bottle of Robitussin in the other?
I’m not cool enough to wear a piston necklace. I’m not cool enough to wear any necklace. I hope to inspire some cool necklaces though.
Re: Piston art
That's some excellent work!!

It’s rally party garb. Pic is of a dude out west that bought one, for rally season. I am not cool enough to wear one either. They work pretty well on leathers. Again too cool for me. I just make them.
Re: Piston art
I want to make recycled beer can stuff.
I heard that extruded aluminum alloy isn’t good for casting. But if I could add the right stuff, it would be awesome to make some engine parts out of beer cans.
I’ve cast bullets and done some lost wax plaster molds with zinc.
Maybe a beer can intake manifold is possible?
Re: Piston art
I’d drink a beer out of that for sure
