How fast does it go?

Re: Something interesting & unusual, purchased today. Value?

Nice bike Larry! BTW , that your chicken truck in the background?!

Re: Something interesting & unusual, purchased today. Value?

Nice bike!

I think i've seen one before somewhere but these must be rare as hell. It creates more questions than it answers though;

What the hell is going on with those front forks? Why is the chain on the wrong side? Why does it have the "Dutch" white rear fender? Why does it look so Asian?

Did some research:

SIS was a Portuguese manufacturer & used Sachs engines.

Those front forks are the stock ones... odd but heavy duty

The white fender detail appears to be a stock feature

Check out the tank pad for the "full tuck" position.

Based on youtube videos, it looks like it goes about 55 mph.

I haven't pushed it yet until I change the trans oil, repack the wheel bearings, etc...

Re: Something interesting & unusual, purchased today. Value?

SIS Sachs are excellent bikes to ride, heavy shocks are purpose design because if you ever ride in Portugal you would need the rebound control for brakes-corner-brakes-dodge car, brakes-corner-dodge-person, brakes-opposing traffic in your lane- panic maneuver... I have a Sachs 50s on one of my Moby serie 50 frames and excellent engines indeed.

Thanks for the offer & likely will be listing it for sale in the near future. Stay tuned. I was able to get an 86 page shop manual for the particular Sachs engine (50s). Looks like it's around 5 HP in it's current stock state.

Hi Larry, hope you and family are well. If you want to get the best price for it, advertise it in the Boston and New Bedford areas where there is a very large Portuguese community. I had a neighbor ask if i had seen any SIS mopeds recently! You could find someone with nostalgia and deep pockets. I had a couple of SIS pedal mopeds here in the past, and they flew out the door for asking price.

WHOA!!!

Rad!!!

SIS made the best sachs

I think I had one of those frames, it was wrecked tho.

https://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/read.php?1,4314672

It been modified to an e50 mount for the engine, and nothing else with it, so I used the ktm brackets to put it back to sachs, but a 504 - kinda ironic the original engine was modified from a sachs to a worse engine e50, then modified BACk to an even worse-still 504

Dave-

Thanks for this. I did try to get on some Portugese facebook page without success.

Seems like this may have some particular value to that community.

I'll talk to some concrete guys I know from work, but they are pretty thrifty!

Now listed in the Buy/Sell forum.

Ready to ride, complete with a N.Y. transferable registration.

Makes a Puch Magnum, Motomarina/Motobecane Sebring, or a Honda MB5 seem lightweight in comparison.
