Parts storage

Say, what’s the best way to store engine parts prone to rust? I’m using plastic coffee cans, with oil soaked rags. But I feel it’s not too safe? Spray lithium grease and wax paper in a box?

Re: Parts storage

If you are worried about rust just put a thin layer of grease or some good gun oil.

Re: Parts storage

If your talking moped parts (assuming so), just bring them inside.

Yeah a little oil will help too.

The stable air temp and humidity indoors will work wonders compared to the temperature cycles and humidity in a garage, shed, cellar, patio with a tarp.

Re: Parts storage

I like to spray some oil or grease on the parts then put them in ziploc containers or ziploc bags. They can sit on the shelf for along time.

Re: Parts storage

I don’t know what kind of bike you have, but Puch clutches and stators fit perfectly in a half-pint takeout container.

Re: Parts storage

One TomosA3 , 3 Vespas .. are those new clutches soaking? Chinatown?

Re: Parts storage

Old stock, but new to me. Gave it a night in ATF before dropping it in. The Tomos ones are pretty similar in size, right?

Re: Parts storage

They look similar. I was thinking of cast cylinders.
