Ya just a tiny hack for copper spraying your head gaskets. I’ve hung em by wire, left em flat in a shoebox, propped em up in the corner to get em to dry on both sides. Then one day I was looking at my stack of headlight buckets and bam, problem solved. Spray, flip and spray! No mess and quick! Head leaks suck, do this an be happy!!

I have not had an issue with head leaks so I have not experienced copper spray. I do typically check my head bolts before I rip around though. Those heat cycles can really mess with those nuts.
Good tip. I haven’t used the spray. I use the brush-on, so I can get it all over my fingers.
No need to use that stuff but it would be nice if they made reasonably priced copper head gaskets in all shapes, sizes and thicknesses,

Ya I’m going to have to disagree with ya on this one ken. But then again I’m super paranoid when it comes to leaks these days. I always deck the cylinder and head and copper spray every bike I build. Not worth it not to do it, just second nature now and I have no air leaks. Could I get away without doing it maybe but I’d rather not risk it. I love copper spray, Ben using it for over a decade now. I Do 100% agree with you we need more copper head gaskets in general. Perhaps one day, just not this year since it’s the worst year ever.

I only use it on my Minarelli engines. They have recessed copper gaskets. I found a guy on eBay (I hate eBay) that makes various size/thickness head gaskets. I’ve had a couple Minarelli gaskets made. But they’re just round. No bolt holes like Puch. I don’t know if he can do different shapes. I should check.
I use this on my head gaskets too. On top of helping seal, it gets very tacky and therfore also helps with positioning the head gasket on the cylinder so that its perfectly centered and not protruding into the bore at all. There's always a lot of slop between the holes and the studs, kind of necessary to ensure it fits especially since studs are almost never 100% parallel to each other.

I don't use head gaskets on Minarellis. Ups your compression and the recessed head seals right up with no leaks.
I do use copper spray on the case and cover gaskets, though.
There are other problems if a gasket alone does not seal
Copper spray = extra insurance, at best
What is binding the copper powder together? Seriously, you are sealing you are spraying on some kind of goooo that is a pretty copper color. Copper spray does not a copper head gasket make.
By the way, it's a not a sneer. Copper probably is the best thermally conductive powder. What is the plastic goo that is forming the gasket? It's a serious question.
I feel like I pull the head off too much to want to deal with cleaning any goo or making something.
Polishing the head and cylinder was one of the “mods” I did. It worked so well, I’ve never considered anything else.
I have only had aluminum engines. Maybe cast iron won’t mate up as intimately as aluminum and thus require a soft metal in between?
To the point of the thread, it is an excellent way to make a nice application. I’d be happy to use it when I meet the situation that calls for it. It’s just that my moped engines come apart too often and seal too well without it.

Garelli is the same. I could get away with no head gasket then? I do like the copper ring that is used in the garelli. But nice to know I dont need one. They can be a bit tricky to get in correctly the first time.
Only way to find out is to try it. Make sure you have piston clearance to the head, and it's not smacking into the plug.
Never had a V1 leak without one, but when I did use gaskets, they liked to squish into the chamber and get chewed up by the piston. Or get so smashed you couldn't tell it was there.
If you don't have a squish measurement or don't know what it is you have no business removing a head gasket. Usually but not always, a perfect squish band requires machining. It is an important power gain and no stock engine has it set properly. It requires purpose. Changing your head gasket setup alters this. It is not just about compression.

My V1 is faster with out one.
You guys gotta try sprayIng directly on to the metal! IV done it on a few heads & Reed spacers. Works like a charm
