New clutch/bell time, and is this wrist pin bearing...

Nicholas Scholten /

Is it time for this clutch bell to hit the trash pile? No hard edges but the surface is definitely uneven. Not sure what the pitting is around the inside (they kind of look like metal flecks in the pic but is actually pitting)

Same question for the original '78 2 shoe clutch. Looks glazed, I've tried sanding it before, but it goes back to that.

This a Treats 70cc piston going on a Treats super stuffy bottom end. Is this bearing clearance alright? There is a fair sized clearance gap on the 50cc slug as well but this looks maybe a little much?

Hoping to get some answers quick so I can get an order in if needed; hitting the track in 11 days! Thanks!

Bump. Please?

Re: New clutch/bell time, and is this wrist pin bearing...

Radial grooves are not the best, but the bell would work as intended. Grooves mean you will probably wear irregular patterns into the shoes but it will still grip.

Pads do look glazed, what oil are you using, maybe try a different type? You could also do a little cross hatch sanding on the bell surface with some 240-320 grit to just clean the shinyness off the bell and give a little more bite, sand the pads and try bedding them back in.

Side clearance on the bearing is ok, Ideally as long as the rollers can't walk too far out of the rod you are all right.

This Swinger 1 lead a life of mystery before I got it so I'm not sure what oil was run in the past. I suspect it was run dry at least a couple of times because this side cover leaks quite happily (fingers crossed motoseal fixes it for the track day). I've run standard type F.

I think I may just grab a new clutch from Treats since I need to order headset stuff anyways.

Thank you very much for responding! Especially about the bearing!

Probably Fred /

Do not get a new clutch from treats they're (all aftermarket are) junk lining they’re not stock asbestos Lined,

That’s nothing, it looks to me! I ran we worse clutch bell and shoes

Dont be a dummy and use type F tranny fluid ever with with stock Puch asbestos lined clutches use car motor oil 0W20-5w20 or 30 synthetic motor,

oil changed a heckuva lot in 40 years just don’t run type f Tranny junk fluid !

I've been trying to find some Korado arms but not having luck.

Hey, lesson learned about Type F. I only got it because it's what I thought I was supposed to run.

I've also tried low weight motorcycle oil to see how different it feels since I've got a ton of it in the garage. Might run some of that since it doesn't have friction modifiers.
