Hello everyone!!
Recently I became the new owner of a 1970s Batavus Go-Go! This past fall, I picked up an Ecoped scooter (e-bike) for my wife for dirt cheap, as it needed new batteries and had some damage from an accident. Since then I was keeping my eyes peeled for another (electric) scooter for myself and was slowly being drawn towards various gas scooters - ones that did not require me to get my motorcycle licence where I am (read, under 49cc)
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, I saw this one posted and apparently couldn't resist. I ended up trading one of my electric basses, a '84 Japanese Fender bass for this scooter haha!
I know nothing about these scooters and am starting my knowledge base from zero. My mechanic buddy came by to take a look and while it currently doesn't run, it has good compression and spark. The throttle cable and carb were not attached when I got it, and I accidentally damaged the carb pulling it off the scooter during disassembly smh.
So....currently I'm on eBay about to buy myself a new carb and separate air filter as I can't find an affordable complete unit for whatever reason.
During my searching, I was also looking on treatland (man, what a weird site), Myrons Moped, morpedjunkyard, moped division, and 1977 mopeds...along with this site as well.
Due to the whole Covid situation, I'm currently having Justin Trudeau as my sugar daddy, so I'm trying not to be killed with shipping charges! Unfortunately, it seems that with vintage stuff, it can't be had all in one place.
Hopefully I get my new carb ordered soon then can move on to sourcing some parts locally like a new throttle cable wth both ends intact, and a universal kill switch because there doesn't seem to be one.
Thanks and hope to learn a great deal from this awesome community
