Tomos Targa oil injection

George Smith /

It’s been a long time since I posted here, recently acquired (today) a 2005 targa with oil injection, how reliable is oil injection on this thing? I have worked on a lot of other mopeds but never messed with a targa. If anyone remembers I am that crazy Jawa guy, and yes still have all of them.

That’s kinda what I’m thinking, it works currently but has some really bad 2 stroke oil in it

Re: Tomos Targa oil injection

If you get the pump and lines cleaned out really well you could try running it. I just dont trust them to not fail and if it fails you will seize.

Re: Tomos Targa oil injection

you can test and adjust the oil injection, but do ya want to? its just something else to break. limit chances for breaking shit that will cause a break-down.

I have 10,000mi + on an all stock daily commuter Tomos. Oil injector works great. Love not having to premix.

"all stock" is key here. i put 7000K on a tomos streetmate with oil injection that was but lightly modded (biturdo, airbox holes, upjet, sprockets).

i dont know about 2005 tomos targa and whether its the one that stops pumping oil or the one that pumps too much oil as it slowly wears out. (edited)

Re: Tomos Targa oil injection

I run premix Amsoil Saber with my oil injected 2001 Targa LX. The oil injection pump still functions but being said my bike has only 500 actual miles on it thus far

Damn my 2004 has 20 '000 ! I'll bet that 19 yr old bike still looks New?
