Looking for an easy cheap first moped

Hey yall, I'm looking for a cheap just entry level moped so I can get around the base that I'm stationed at. I've had a few motorbikes as a kid but I absolutely love the 80's mopeds that are a little rough around the edges. Any advice, thoughts, recommendations or anyone selling?

Thank you

Re: Looking for an easy cheap first moped

I'd recommend any Puch with an e50 engine. Preferably a Maxi. Cheap and plentiful, and parts are abundant.

There are probably alot of them that people want to unload before they travel on. Just don't get a Chinese scooter, your shipmates will be all over that.

Re: Looking for an easy cheap first moped

Definitely a puch. They are probably the most common and super easy to fix.

Maxi gets my vote, love all mine that I've owned/own.

E50 on top of that, the za doesnt seem to be as reliable or as easy to find parts for.

Re: Looking for an easy cheap first moped

Cant find a single moped on this base sadly haha

Re: Looking for an easy cheap first moped

Express/Qt-50....nopeds, but for no traffic ideal.

Puch with E50 engine, the best decision

Re: Looking for an easy cheap first moped

Love my JCPenney Pinto.....all the ease of a Puch E50 with a tank that can easily be removed to clean/derust which is a common issue on these older bikes....

Re: Looking for an easy cheap first moped

Tomos are cheap and plentiful. Easy to fix too. Puch with E50 is also a good choice as everyone else has said already.

Check Facebook marketplace. Lookup Facebook moped groups. Craigslist doesn’t usually have a lot anymore. You could also try asking around. Maybe some old coot has a mountain of mopeds in a barn somewhere nearby? (edited)

Puch with E50. You can get them low cost depending on condition and parts are cheapish and best of all really easy to work on.
