I'm getting ready to reline A35 with rubberized cork. I'm wondering what the effect will be if covering the entire show with cork vs the standard area?

I saw some talk of putting a diagonal groove (I presume across) in the cork. Is this to give oil an escape path so it grabs faster?

I'm thinking I want a quick grab into 2nd at a late shift point like 18-20mph.

Straighten me out.
