How can I pull off this magneto cam?

I'm not sure where to get the proper tool for this as it's not a threaded magneto cam. I've tried pulling it with a 3 and 2 jar puller but they just kept slipping off due to the cam being tapered towards the top. It's a motobecane isodyne m1 motor I believe. Any idea where I could get a tool for this? Or how to get it off?

Re: How can I pull off this magneto cam?

Once the puller jaws are in place , screw clamp them together , so they can't slip out/off .

Re: How can I pull off this magneto cam?

Interesting. I think that's worth a try. Thanks!

Re: How can I pull off this magneto cam?

I use a tie rod puller on them, you gotta take all the coils off to make it clear. There is a correct puller but I already have the tie rod puller. You can rent one from the auto parts store.

I'm ASSuming you're trying to get the part off that has the 2 holes in it?

Re: How can I pull off this magneto cam?

they alignment dimples not threaded puller holes

I was wondering if they are for a spanner wrench cause looking at the shaft it looks like its threaded on. But I know nothing about these things just looking at the picture

First off I have to say “do not do this“ do this at your own risk!

Remove the coils and use a bearing Puller

Re: How can I pull off this magneto cam?

Why are you trying to remove the cam?

Re: How can I pull off this magneto cam?

I need to adjust the ignition timing

Re: How can I pull off this magneto cam?

I don't know mobys, but this little gear puller does a great job removing my hobbit cam without having to remove the coils like you need to to use bigger the 2-3 jaw pullers. they come in a few sizes, check your measurements before buying.

Re: How can I pull off this magneto cam?

Are you sure you need to adjust the timing? How did you check it? These engines were designed to never be taken apart and be throw away.
