Finally got the moped up and running! Took the bike out for a spin to Tropical Park in Miami (parks were recently reopened).
I’ve changed the transmission oil, worked on the brakes, and oiled the chain. I’m still only getting 30mph and I hear a weird rattling sound from 0-15mph, which I’m assuming is 1st gear. Any ideas?

I would tell you to check the condition of your sprag spring but being that yours looks like an A55 if shouldnt have one. It is a constant rattle? Only when moving? Do you hear it when revving on the stand?
If it is an a55 i would say the rattle is normal from the wearing of some of the plastic bits they pit into these engines. I feel like there is info on replacing the plastic pieces with ones from an a35.... maybe I'm completely wrong on it but I know I have read this when I had an a55 for a bit.

What "plastic bits"? As far as I can remember, there are no plastic bits in a Tomos trans.
Also, the A55 does have a sprag spring.

The A55's ive had apart do not even have the spot for a sprag spring. Maybe they did away with the sprag partially through production of the A55.

there is a sprag in a35 and a55
there is no tomos fu on running plastic whatever in trannys.
