A question for you italiano vespa fanboys of electric speed.

I have a dillemma.

My spark is super weak, and ped dont start, and I know it has something to do with my ignition.

So what do you suggest, replacing mechanical points ignition, with electric kinetic cdi, or replacing the bad ignition with good new old stock?

I have a 43 polini racing cylinder on stock ported and modified 13 mm intake, with calibrata pipe. I want this to be reliable and from what I've heard, cdi is promising. I would swap out my old cases for a new polini speed case and use a high performance cdi, but that would mean I cant use my 43 mm kit on it.

What might be the only wrong component with my ignition is a nicked condenser wire, but I cant tell if it has all passed the point of no return.

What other wiring modifications would I have to make in order to accompany the kinetic cdi other than a voltage regulator?

Change the condenser and fix the wire? That is like $7. Worth a shot before dropping $$$ on a cdi and cases.

Must have been rubbing on something and shorting out. Mount the external condenser to bare metal away from heat.

Yeah, I would replace condensor and clean your points, than make sure the leads off the coils to the HT are sound and not reading high resistance.

Speed cases are like my last choice of cases, given the precut transfers are so far from everything BUT the polini kits.

doesnt look like a stock wire,

after above^^^

vespa ignition is tied into your brake light stuff as well, so test by grounding that blue wire off the stator.

Pat splat,

it isnt a stock wire, I rebuilt the engine last fall and replaced the points and condenser and re wired all of the coils. After riding it for a while one of those rubber see hole covers was sucked into the ignition and tore a whole bunch of shit up. The condenser was one of the victims.

And so was this lighting coil

Re: A question for you italiano vespa fanboys of electric speed.

that rubber cover jambed me up before, not as much damage as yours but had a bunch of rubber skid marks to get rid of, I found if heating the rubber and paying close attention to the groove, the rubber pops on easily and correctly.

Points are fine if you maintain em, much easier that re wiring your brake light stuff.

Looks like u know what your doing, so if the coil wire is not broke then its fine, just throw some liquid rubber on it or paint or epoxy.
