Head gasket

Hi everyone, I need to replace a head gasket on my plate 60s motobecane moped. I was wondering what people use for material? Having trouble finding the right thickness. Any help really appreciated. Thanks!

Mopedland may have one.

Re: Head gasket

Not on a moby , but , I've used heavy duty aluminum foil for head gaskets .

If you want/need thicker more robust , you can shape them from aluminum flashing material or copper sheet .

Re: Head gasket

Some pretty good ideas actually thanks!

Re: Head gasket

Thin aluminum cookie sheets work, too.

But , then what are you gonna do yer cookies on ? LOL

Re: Head gasket

Copper sheet is best if you are making your own, you can re-anneal them each time you take off the head if you are doing R&D of a killer engine or racing. You will have to anneal them initially because copper work hardens.

When HL closed for C19 , they sent everyone home , with absolutely no benefits .

So , in my eyes , they can eat dirt .

I used a couple of Pabst cans last night. Fixed my head just right.
