That one idea you've always wanted to try

Terbo Speghetti /

Ideas are just about the only thing we can share without getting coronavirus, so let's give this a try.

What's one idea you've always wanted to try on a moped but never had the time/tools/brains to get done?

I'll go first, I've always wanted to make an intake to run morini m0* reed kits on m1* bikes, so you would have near 360° intake timing. The physical spacing is a super challenge tho, not much access to the case induction port with that tall intake on the cylinder too.

Re: That one idea you've always wanted to try

Better clutch disks for the Sachs. I'd really like to make the thinner ones that came in the 3 disk setup or even a 4 disk setup.

Re: That one idea you've always wanted to try

Nitrous. Canned air. Ether on tap.

Re: That one idea you've always wanted to try

Hack and weld a Motobecane Doppler pipe on to a Maxi.

Re: That one idea you've always wanted to try

Two pipes with a diverter valve so you could have one with low end hit then the other for a high end hit. Be like a two speed power band.

If you choose to do this may I suggest you use something other than a moped as a get-a-way vehicle!

Maddox pulse jet on a pylon. Get moped up to 40mph, that should be enough incoming air velocity to start the pulse jet.

Has nobody done this? Seems like something you wouldn't be alone in wanting

Re: That one idea you've always wanted to try

We've had some fun ideas over the years. I think a backflip would be #1 on the list. also ghostriding a bike off a cliff or building.

We talked about making a moped version of TRON where we had a spraypaint marker can behind each bike, you ride around a parking lot and whoever runs over a paint line 1st loses.

We also tried to hook up lazertag mopeds where a lazer gun hit instead of the flashing lights on the vest., would trigger a kill switch relay. We got as far as a relay trigger but never put it on bikes.

I also wanna make a bike look like it's backwards. Use forks fot the rear shocks, a headlight bucket for taillight housing, swap places for thank and seat, springer leading link to look like shocks, clear tailight up "front" etc. could be pretty funny and very doable.

I'm really rocking thorugh other parts of my list though, adapting a <40cc kit, 2WD hybrid electric. We've done tandems and tallboys, we've done trailers to tow other mopeds behind a moped, DIY leg shields, many silly things keep me goin. TDC's coasterbrakes on purple pain are hot fire.

Re: That one idea you've always wanted to try

I really wanna try deleting that intermediate gear between a Sachs 505 main gear and the pedal shaft. Keep the rear coaster but eliminate drag off the motor.

I REALLY want to see a backwards bike, that would be amazing.

If you want to do Tron Extreme just run a fuel line out to the back fender and leave trails of fire (edited)

Double-engine'd moby. Plenty of people out there have done it, I just don't currently have the time/material/know-how to do it.

Re: That one idea you've always wanted to try

Jumping the snake river on a moped.

I feel like you could do this with long enough ramps.

Or just like a bridge without a middle

Re: That one idea you've always wanted to try

Turbo, It looks pretty shitty, but I think there’s a version of what you wanna try on eBay Italy right now but looks like someone tried it on an m1 with a stock m0 piston port cylinder haha

I live by the snake. I don’t think you’ll make it.

Can I watch?

Could do this with v1l with regular v1 cylinder. Funny shit

Yeah I've seen that one, it looks like it was maybe a thing people did! I'll make it happen soon

I've thought of it for years, just never got around to it but I think it'd look sick on a maxi and wonder how it'd perform.

There's gotta be a place that's skinny and still technically snake river.

My new goal is to take an entire group ride on a jump over the snake river

Only if you help build the ramp.

Re: That one idea you've always wanted to try

Invent a reed valve that clamps on stock intakes.

Okay, but let’s not do it near where I live, the lower Snake. It’s too damn big here. Let’s head to the Wyoming headwaters.

That said, you can ride across some of the hydroelectric dams, when they are open. I sometimes camp on the far side of the river, and cross over Little Goose dam. Great riding area.

This is the kind of forward thinking that the moped army needs to engender

A para peds more doable.

But @ JBot.. Pick ups out of old light coils....

I was thinking wtf not? 6 tail coils mounted humbucker style. Or a lipstick out of a light coil.
