1954 NSU Quick gearbox

I just got a 1954 NSU 98cc Quick. I think I have figured out where to check the gearbox oil, but I am not sure. If anybody has an idea, I would appreciate it. Also if anybody knows where to find a manual, it would also be appreciated. It runs great, and it is a lot of fun. Cheers Brian

Probably a screw on the lower side cover to check the level by adding oil until it comes out of the hole.

There doesn't seem like there is any screw to take out to check the level. Also no plug or opening to add any. Hopefully I can figure it out. It runs and shifts fine, but I would like to check it. Cheers Brian

You could ask on the mopedland website, they may know.

What a good lookin bike damn

Re: 1954 NSU Quick gearbox

You will need to open the fill plug and insert a long plastic wire tie as a dipstick and observe. I would think 1/2 of oil on a stick would be OK, as long as you know the stick got to the bottom of the case when you checked it. If you've drained and you are refilling, I would go with 1/3 of a quart.

I cannot find a manual online for a Villiers 98 motor, but there's bound to be one out there somewhere.
