1979 motobecane 50v(?)

Looking to get information on this moped. What do you guys think? This was a barn find for me. Must of been sitting in a barn for 20 years. Cleaned it all up and underneath all the dust is a nice moped lol. It’s got a cat eye turn signal kit on it. Never seen one of those before. I know they have different models so just curious which one this is.

Motobecane Mobylette 50V in all its frenchie sexiness...

Re: 1979 motobecane 50v(?)

Yup Moby 50v. Not the best first bike, like all frenchy's. But are very comfortable, tunable and one of the best riding mopeds.

They came in 3 flavors 30,25, and 20 mph. Yours is variated Soo 25-30 most likely. The stock gurtner carb is very finicky and is best replaced with a dellorto 15:15 SHA carb and matching 15mm intake. It will run fine on the gurtner if you get it set up. But the dellorto is just easier to work with and maintain. Sup to you tho. Look up motobecane in the wiki and it'll tell you how to identify your bikes speed model

Missing side covers..the cateye system is completely separate from the bikes wiring other than the charge wire if they installed it. If you want to keep them your going to need to crack it open and replace the battery. Possibly other components too.
