For those of you who live in a “lockdown” state like me, NJ, are you still riding your ped or scooter? Personally, if you don’t stop to socialize with anyone, are you doing any harm? What’s your take?

Still riding to the stores for what we need . I just happen to take the long way . ;)
i think riding and being behind a full face helmet out in fresh air and a long ways away from everyone is a great idea.
but...
i have been thinking lately that god forbid you get smoked by a car and have to go to the hospital, its a really bad time to be taking up a bed and exposing yourself to sick people. in 15+ years of riding thousands of miles a year, i've never been hurt bad enough to go to the ER but you never know.... of course the same thing can happen driving a car so what are ya gonna do? i'm just scared to death of hospitals under normal circumstances and especially now, i would have to be literally dying or unconscious to get me in one.
This^^^
No shame in that. No lockdown here, Been riding alot as the weather has been great and less cars on the road. My face shield had fended off a few of those little round buggers I'm sure.
seriously, i went for a ride on my motorcycle yesterday, it was cold and I got the tire loose when i was first getting goin. A short bit later all I could think leaning around turns was how bad it'd be to wind up in a hospital right now.
and then i start thinking of the danger in general, and holy shit it really puts your mortality into focus.
Ive been riding for 45 years, its too late to think about the dangers.
We go on lock-down Friday at midnight, but it does not say you can't go outside, I have not had the first ride yet, still too cold for my old wimpy self, but I will, I don't think they can do anything to you for it, you can ride your bicycle etc...so why not. As to getting hit, traffic is WAY down, so I think its safer right now than in years. I'm not having any luck seeing if the DMV are open here, but I suck at google...I have all my tabs though. But I want to know for car buying/selling. Some good deals out there as we speak. As mentioned above you could not drag me to a hospital right now, I'm scared shit-less of them in the first place, now it's even worse. :/ I will ride to the store though, can park up front, and I rarely buy more than one bag of groceries at a time.
The weather here in NJ is beautiful today. I’m jonesing to get out for a ride, but I fear the hospital aspect of getting into an accident. It happened to me once before, so I’m not immune to it. Both my brothers are on the front lines fighting the coronavirus, and both have warned me to stay away from hospitals at all cost. It’s something to consider before jumping on your bike. (edited)
Chicago Mayor Lightfoot just banned long rides on bicycles or long walk, I think, which would include jogging.
It’s a conundrum, that’s for sure. I guess I’ll just keep working on other projects and wait it out until the coast is clear. (edited)
Rode here in Boardman ohio today, very light traffic, beautiful day!
Nothing like a ride in the country to ease the mind.
They will have to shoot me....
Im in nyc and have been riding every day. The streets are so much quieter, esp at night of course. However the cops seems to be pretty bored at night and the moped noise certainly attracts more attention without the ambient car noise during the day. That being said, I haven't been pulled over once. I always am riding extra careful and am basically am in a full face, jacket, and double up on jeans at all times.
Here in Cleveland I've been riding my ped the past 3 days in a row. Much less traffic, and I can actually blast down streets that are normally clogged with traffic but are now mostly deserted. It's safer now to ride around here for the first time in 30 years. Also gas is really cheap. At many of the Lakewood gas stations it's under $1.50 a gallon so it only took 75 cents to fill up my Puch
I’ve been getting out to ride here in Massachusetts. I don’t live in the city and I can easily access backroads. Nice easy riding and the roads for the most part are empty. I’m not within 6 ft of anybody so I don’t see the harm.
I've been blasting around every nice day! You all gave me something to think about regarding getting into an accident and needing hospital attention. That is the last place I want to end up right now. Ill just ride more careful. Cant keep me off my peds!
This winter has been the best for riding opportunities. I have only missed one weekend of rides and most weekends I have rode both days. The best thing about my new place is that there are hiking trails with small parking spots out in the backroads, I like to get off the bike and walk a little and explore some cool rock outcropings and streams.
Yeah here in ohio. i rode 10 miles today to visit /check on grandma.

Was she wearing a wolf costume ? ;)
It’s gonna be 65 degrees here in NJ today. Gonna be tough to keep me off my bikes today.
81 here in NC, but I've been trying to really not go outside that much. Might go for a little jaunt around the neighborhood.
As long as you have a justifiable reason as to where you’re traveling, i see no reason why not. Except that you guys are 100% correct about injuries and hospital visits at the present moment. But, I’ve been blasting to the store on ol’ Champ any chance I get when something is needed, regardless of the dangers. My take is that traffic is significantly down, so chances for incident reduced ;-) It was 70 here yesterday, how could I resist?!?!
Have to just weigh in the pros/cons of riding and the risk of dropping the bike (and yourself) or some over stressed motorist 'not seeing you'. You really dont even want to have to go to a clinic let alone a hospital these days.
ALSO
Depends on where you live, if your area is under more severe lockdown type conditions it does not make sense to make yourself a target for overstressed cops, specially if you have ones who tend to be assholes because now they would be more like asses with huge festering bleeding hemorrhoids.
NJ has a mandated stay at home order. I live in a rural part of the state, but nonetheless, cops here can be a-holes. Good point!
The question was, "are you still riding YOUR 'ped or scooter?"
I haven't ridden MY moped(s), but I did go on a 10 mile test ride of someone else's...
Country roads with no plate. Ohio BMV 's are closed at the moment, so what could I do? I broke the Governor's stay at home order and had no plates. I felt like a rebel without a clue.
Or cause.
Whatever.

It's probably a good idea to try not to get hurt anyway but in new York we are getting a hospital boat to hold the sick patients. They are instructed not to go to the emergency room. They are instructed to go to a testing facility next door to the hospital and that facility will tell them what to do once the results come back.
I went out for about an hour this afternoon on my Vespa GT 200 scooter. Saw lots of other motorcyclists on the road as well as a few cop cars. No issues whatsoever. It felt good to get out of the house for awhile.
Even though you rode a scooter(blech!), I'm glad you were ALLOWED to get out and ride. Hope it never comes to banning bikes.
