Yellow moby paint

Hi all,

Recently I was tasked with painting the rusted/chipped spots on my '77 moby and I couldnt find much on this website. So I went through at least 3 different colors and found that Rust-Oleum Sunburst Yellow was a perfect match. I got mine for about $5 and I'm thouroughly satisfied with the results.

Is that 77 the same yellow that is used for the 80 yellow Traveler? Can you post a pic.?

Re: Yellow moby paint

I'm not sure about that one. I'm guessing they should be the same, but dont hold me to it. Here's a pic

We are about in the same place I am down to the frame cleaning the tank! Do you have everything to complete it?

Re: Yellow moby paint

Yes sir! I got the engine running a while ago, and now that I have some more time because of the virus I've turned my attention to the cosmetics. I filled the gas tank with evaporust and then coated it with some por-15, good as new. Now I have all the rusty parts sitting in evaporust, it should come together nicely.

Re: Yellow moby paint

I hope you don’t end up regretting that Por-15. I’ve heard horror stories...

Too late for warnings . He'll have to live with it .

Re: Yellow moby paint

You can get the paint matched at a body shop if you take a sample to them I used the back of a side cover.

What would you suggest?

Re: Yellow moby paint

Sam is correct, you will not get a better match for that yellow.

Caswell, but only if it had pinholes. Otherwise no coating is preferable. Clean the inside with vinegar or evaporust, and run it. Keep it full of clean, non ethanol gas.

But it sounds too late. Hope for the best, and maybe it’ll last.

Absolutely Caswell
