Quarantine Dayz

Day one. Put all new cables, tire and tube on a Solex. Supers rusty but runs awesome. Bike fired right up in about 20 feet with cleaning and fresh gas!

DAMN, I gotta put my Solex together now.

Re: Quarantine Dayz

My FA50 will get a new final drive bearing in the next couple days .

A little too much play in the rear end .

Re: Quarantine Dayz

Eric, did that solex come from Stephen??

I'm 99 percent sure that's my old bike! I traded a very frustrated Skip a 13mm wrench for it. The ignition wire connection was on its last leg. I think I jammed some foil in there to assist the connection. I rode that bike on a few bicycle rides until I blew the front tire and parked it.

We isolated ourselves over to Georgia at the Longhorn Steakhouse. Had a great steak dinner, stopped and shopped on the way back.

Looks like though FL is tightening the thumbscrews on citizens in the near future. We may head back to Ohio sooner than later.

Re: Quarantine Dayz

Yes Chris!!!

Blake it is! I got it from him about a year ago. He said it ran but all the cables and levers were stuck. So I put a tarp on it and bout back and it sat until today. Awesome story. I’ll trade you a 16mm socket for it?

Don stay home.

Re: Quarantine Dayz

Sorry, I'll be walking the beach and riding. Staying home is not my cup of tea.

Re: Quarantine Dayz

I’ve been thinking of scooping this lil ol thang up for a quarantine project. I’ve had my eye on it for a week now.

Nothing moped related. I’ve been restoring old electric advertising clocks like this one. I get the same thrill when I get them working again that I do when I get a moped started for the first time.

From what I've read, Ohio and Florida are leaving restaurants open to diners. I would just be more comfortable in my old RURAL stomping ground of Ohio, Jimmy.

As of last Sunday at 9pm restaurants are carry out / delivery only. I dont blame you for wanting to be home during this tho.

Re: Quarantine Dayz

Don for the sake of mopeds keep all all you opinions in your off topic thread please. I want this thread to be fun moped things people are doing to pass the time!

Lar that clock is awesome! Let’s keep some positive building things coming!

Spent the day getting my office right for my remote learning starting tomorrow. I have not used my desk at home in years. Had to get the old state issued laptop set up to use my bigger monitor, keyboard and mouse. I suck at tech stuff but at least I have it figured out. Idk how an Montessori Elementary Science Lab teacher can work from home....but I’ll figure it out.

Now to mess with some mopeds.

Re: Quarantine Dayz

My print shop closed monday so I figured I'd use the time wisely. I did a full tear down paint and rebuild sunday and monday. Should be good after I sand some grounds and finish rewiring it.

The real question is can I finish build or fixing every bike in my garage while I'm laid off?

Will the cheap form of moped transportation be a hot ticket item in a few months?

Right!? My wife is a Waldorf kindergarten teacher. She is making crafting and activity videos on her MacBook right now to send to the parents. Hahah

I’m still at my work office. Can’t work from home because the world of Wills and Trusts is all stuck in the paper world...but I’m hoping with the lack of events outside I have extra at home time to finish up some bikes.

Yeah,heck.....I wouldn't go eat out at a restaurant after 9pm anyway. That sounds like a fair requirement to me. Cuts down on the bar patrons too.

Re: Quarantine Dayz

Jason That cheep transportation is always the ticket!

Chris, tell your wife I feel for her! I am about to start making vids for my 5th graders if they are still going to be required to take the end of grade test....

That was scary....it was going a solid 15mph. Then I hit a small hill and I mean small. Had to put the phone in my pocket and was surprised it hit 18 down that hill.....

Just finished fixing the wiring. I have lights! Even tho the bulbs are more dim than a candle.... re shined the front tire so it does not rub....at least everything on this bike works!
