I've been kind of mourning over the loss of a deal that I had. I was going to score the sweet moped but things happened and I couldn't.
It sucked so bad, I handled it well, but it still really really sucked!! I'm sure I can't be the only one..

Yeah, that's why I hate it when people post links to sales on here. I got snaked on a moped because of that.
$25 complete running pa50ii. Bout 15 years ago. He wanted $400 but the VIN was removed. Offered him 25 and he said yes! Still diddnt buy it.
Guy was an obvious methhead, and I diddnt want to end up with stolen property. Stupid me.
i love it when people get snaked, and i love it when people dont buy from meth heads. im never affected, its a win win, and all i have is love...f'n moped!
It's the nature of buying used vehicles, I have owned upwards of 80 cars in my life, lost out on a lot of deals by talking about them before I showed with money. It's a game, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It's all good. There's always another.
I had lined up a sweet early 80's Honda CB 125 with title and new battery, 900 miles, 35 miles away for $1000 and put $200 down. I failed to follow through with the deal and still have the receipt for what I paid. There's a cell number that I texted but didn't get a response.
I'm an idiot.

Nope, you did the right thing. I bought a tomos on craigslist a few years back for like $200. After i got home i realized that it was stolen... my buddy found it on facebook. I drove it to the rightful owner the next day. Its what anyone would want you to do with their stolen property. I hope you reported the meth-head to the police.
If you're buying a bike with out a title or paper work. I just assume it's stolen, Unfortunately it's the way it is with mopeds, Previous owner is Dead, some one left it to them,or it was a barn find.
Make freinds with a Cop and he can answer All questions after dinner.
I Hate hearing Nightmare stories like this.
I'll never forgive myself for not spending the $180 on that Vespa-powered quad....
Missed a $50 magnum X earlier in the week.
Missed so many vintage cars, bikes, guitars, amps/equipment and a few house/property/Business deals over the years, though some missed deals used to bother me, I don’t let material things/missed deals bother me any more,
You could always get money and material things but you can’t get more time, I’m blessed what I have with family, where I live and the possessions I have now,

This exactly, I'm up to a 30x35 shop, a 60x75 barn and another 40 x75 barn chock full of crap, projects, etc. I don't want anything else, the joy for me is working on this stuff and at the rate i'm going I will be lucky to finish all my projects before i die.
Usually whenever i get my hands on anything rare or desirable, I fix it up and sell it off as quick as i can.

Exactly back, I downsized twice, gave up shared shop (owner died), gave up my storage space (Though it was cheep money is tight) and even though had to leave some stuff, give away some stuff that I couldn’t sell off and got rid of all other brands of Mopeds and parts except Puch, some Tomos and Derbi I still have a lot of stuff/projects,
It’s easier to acquire stuff than it is to get rid of stuff
I can never understand the Craigslist seller that revises their had with the word "SOLD" at the end of the tile after they have sold the item. I guess they are too stupid to delete their own ad or they are just a sociopath.
Responding to them at this point just fuels the worm in their head.
I've bought like 10+? or so mopeds and motorcycles without titles here in Canada. Then went thru the procedure to get papers after the fact. None stolen.
i've also met a guy who has bought 100+ Honda CBxxx motorcycles over the years and he buys a lot of them without papers and has only ever had 2 of them come back stolen and had to surrender them to the RCMP.
I guess people steal less in Canada.
I would say most of my true deals are because I get them without papers and the owners are too lazy to do the paperwork to get it themselves.
71 puch N but it had the alpine climber gearing. Was stolen and totalled. I thought I could buy it back as salvage.for 20% pa doesn't have salvage titles it was scraped.it was hard seized the guy didn't know about 2t oil
still ten plus years later when he gets out of prison I get a ten dollar check and a slew of flat tires.

Don't call cops. Cops are bad people, always.

This is a great tip, but it's not as easy to get papers on things in the states. Even if it's not stolen, some states have like 2+ year waiting periods for people to claim then and shit. Rules differ based on where you are, but it's a big expensive hassle pretty much everywhere.
