Getting a title

Has anyone gone through the process of getting a title for a Tomos in NewJersey or another state? I'm looking to buy a 1995 from a guy that doesn't have the title.

I have heard it's a pain but this form doesnt look to bad. Is the placard/label on the fork all you need? I looked at mine I have a 2001 sprint and it says this motor vehicle complies with all regulations but doesn't specifically say epa emissions.

Re: Getting a title

My understanding is that if you are in New Jersey and the bike has previously been titled in New Jersey but you don't have the title, you're pretty much out of luck.

Re: Getting a title

If it's like Ohio vehicle titles, you can file something at the title office to find the last known title holder and you can then attempt to contact them... IF it was ever titled.

There may be something about abandoned vehicles as well.

Yes it appears VT is the way to go thanks haha

Re: Getting a title

You no longer need a title in Ohio. A bill of sale with VIN on it will do. But where I live the registrar, wanted a pic of the VIN , on the moped.
