Garelli Gulp Matic Deluxe

Anybody know anything about these? I found one in my town for $450 obo with 300 miles. Says it runs good but needs a headlight and tuneup. How much are parts and such? Is it worth 450 or should I wait for the price to drop and make an offer? It’s a 2 speed automatic how slow would it be compared to a variator (what my old one had)

Re: Garelli Gulp Matic Deluxe

Where you are , it might be worth a lot . I mean , how much would you have to pay in fuel , wear and tear and time to get a bike from almost anywhere else in the state ?

Re: Garelli Gulp Matic Deluxe

Those two speeds are good engines, the clutches suffer a bit since they are made of rubber. You can run a 70 kit but have to really be aware of how you’re riding to avoid burning out the clutches. You want to make sure to run the right non-detergent oil. I think $450 is reasonable if it’s mint looking. The Basic’s have gas tanks that are part of the frame tubing, so make sure it looks alright inside. If it needs tires/cables and has rust around the edges, and the chrome on the wheels looks poor, it’s probably spent some time outside and I wouldn't pay a penny over $300.

Those two-speeds can rip good with just a pipe, good intake and jetting - though there aren't lots of options for new pipes right now, and I don’t know if the mlm sidebleed works well on the two-speeds.

What’s wrong with detergent oil btw? I thought they could only help performance

Re: Garelli Gulp Matic Deluxe

nope just bored.......

Re: Garelli Gulp Matic Deluxe

Tri-ped Dave O.D.B. /

When your clutch fails, and you open up the case to black sludge, you will understand why you have to use non-detergent oil in the transmission. Detergent eats rubber.

I am not arguing I can totally use that oil, I just like to know how stuff works lol. Thanks for the tip so I don’t mess it up. Just curious what keeps carbon buildup and such from happening

Top of the page . Orange print : 'VIEW THREADED' or 'VIEW FLAT' .

If you see 'VIEW FLAT' , click it . If you see VIEW THREADED' , leave it and use Quote for each response .

Re: Garelli Gulp Matic Deluxe

You are confusing oil, which gets mixed in with gas (many types will work), with transmission case fluid (keeps clutches wet, cool and able to slip). Transmission fluid must be ND. Oil doesn't really matter, two stroke off the shelf from auto parts store is fine.

I get that, I’ve had a 2 stroke before. I just didn’t know the rubber would melt from the non detergent

It says view threaded on my end. Is there a problem with my formatting or something?

When you want to reply to a specific post , hit the QUOTE button immediately below it . Then type your response a line below what shows in the reply box and hit Post Message .

That way there's no confusion as to which post you're responding to . ;)
