Hey thanks for the add. Just picked up a 1977 yamaha champ. It runs pretty well but seems to bog down if you give it any more than 1/4 throttle in 3rd gear. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Thoroughly clean the carb .
It has to be pristine , inside .
All passages need to be clear .
All jets nothing but brass . ;) (edited)
Will do...gonna replace the plug too

Good idea . Don't forget to check for proper gap . ;)
Just was gonna start tearing the carb off when I realized that the exhaust is loose where it connects to the port on the engine...causing a huge exhaust leak....would that have anything to do with it?
Maybe , but , it sounds more carb related .
Tighten the exhaust and give it a run .
You'll find out soon enough .
3rd gear...in a moped? Pic of bike?
