Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

I'm wondering if you got the responses you were looking for?

Ive been to the last two Moppit rallies and the demographics of the group were pointing more towards Caucasian males aged 25 -70, with exceptions, of course.

Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

I have a individual on another platform that has reached out. I've also sent emails/dms to a few others, so hopefully round up some more. Other than that... Just me ready to write! Haha

Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

Ya, good luck with that. The few women on here keep to themselves and are not here looking for attention or to be hounded...even by the regular members Being a new outsider like yourself will be a real challenge.

Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

Most, if not all the time "anonymous" means you don't give details as to who you are or what you look like.... (see orginal posting)

I am simply trying to provide a outlet/voice for women in a stereotypically male dominated hobby.

Possibly in hopes of covering a bit of the lack of inclusion for "new outsiders" and women in general.

I appreciate your bright outlook and warm welcome.

Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

Lack of inclusion? Lol, you have obviously never been to a group ride or rally. This community is Soo damn small and most members have retired from the hobby. I would speculate that I am one of 75 "active" posters on this forum anyway.

I doubt anyone has ever been turned away. We always loved new people showing up, more help with wrenching.

I do wish you the best of luck tho, hope you get a few bites and get your thingy written. :)(edited)

Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

Aaron, Thank you! ❤️ I was referring mostly to the online community. It's where it all starts, from troubleshooting carb issues, to hearing about the events! The internet is the the gateway to makings things like a that a reality. If you don't feel welcomed online why the heck would you want to show up for a rally?

Rocco, elaborate please.

Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

If you were trying to reach out to some ladies in the community, I’d get on face book and hit up the queens of noise.

90% of the time it starts within a person first. The desire to ride wrench and enjoy a vintage moped not scooter. Then they find this site whilst looking for parts, help or advice. That said, it doesn't really start online as you suggested above^^. There are always a few exceptions tho.

Also, to be taken seriously often requires one to be an active rider of vintage mopeds and not just talk about it.(edited)

Word^^

Facebook would be more up your alley

Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

I just keep these around for paperweights.

Just because someone's online identity isn't solely defined by mopeds and hot dogs, does not mean they don't ride.

Where did we leave off?

Where was hot dogs mentioned at?? Nice pic riding your peds btw. And you work on these? Or just collect them? You made the decision to acquire those before coming here? So where do you find parts and the required info to "maintain" these?

It never occurred to me that "Steen" was female. I had never seen the name before and jumped to a conclusion.

Calling cards for the shop and business were left in first post^^^ you mean you didnt follow any of them? Good way to "troll" up some extra business with all due respect:

Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

Anyways I wish you good luck and good fortune with the business. Ive been a part of that and its tough. You gotta go where the money is to survive. In my past experience it was with Harleys.

Re: Calling all Womxn/Women of the hobby!

They didn't appear as hyperlinks or anchors in my browser. Am I supposed to copy and paste? That's too much like work.

To be a good wrench ya gotta have the mentality of a detective. Is your googler broke? Haha ;)

I almost forgot,

Steen, this site dies over the weekends and will have way more traffic on week days so hang around and I'm sure you'll get some material.(edited)
