Batavus Regency/Starflite related.
I have no clue what this (circled item) is for aside from wearing a hole in the seats vinyl. I thought it might be for further securing the tank but can't find any reference as to how. Anyone know what this is genuinely for?

Looks like it should be to hold the seat? I was only up close to one of these bikes and did not see that, maybe seat was recovered and did not leave a hole?
I would bet it had a rubber bumper on it at one time, that has fallen off long ago.

How is the tank secured to the frame ?
If I remember my starflite correctly, there would be a rubber strap to hold the rear of the tank.
It's for a rubber strap. One can be easily made with an old inner tube.

Pacer SS did use a large round rubber band for the tank.
The seat is well secured opens to a small storage compartment.

OK , then I'd have to agree with previous posts about the 'stud' being for a band of rubber , likely to keep the rear of the tank from jumping .

I've used vacuum belts to replace the band for this on my Pacers. They are nice and thick like the originals.
Do you happen to know the size or brand by chance?
