Vermont registration update in New Jersey

Mopeds for ever MFE /

Well today was my lucky day after dealing with the DMV idiot's and arrogant Brian dead supervisors that are uneducated and dumb employees of north jersey 15 offices to be exact. Well I finally found and agency that understood the Vermont laws when it comes to register out of state registration for states that don't issue titles in less then 10 minutes I was non my way home with a new title and registration from new jersey very nice supervisor and knowledgeable as well as the rest of the staff it was worth the hour drive down south jersey .

Re: Vermont registration update in New Jersey

I had to read it a couple times to figure out what Brian dead meant. I am glad you got it registered. Sometimes when I am really busy I go to insurance agents near my house. Some of them are also certified to do dmv paperwork. Basically I hand them the paperwork and they process everything by the next morning.

Which office location ended up helping you? I have to do this. I was probably just going to get the NJ registration via notorized bill of sale but would like to title it eventually. thanks

Re: Vermont registration update in New Jersey

I just paid for title and plate in oregon using a vermont reg , it will take two months to review and print title , but as long as you write out why there is no title aka coming from a non title state then it works out .

I just registered my other moped in New Jersey that's twice in one week. If you have a valid Vermont registration all they will ask for is a picture of the serial number plate showing the vin and a full picture of the bike reason why is because this will determine if it's a moped with pedals or a motorcycle without pedals .

Also the thing they will ask you if you have a title which is very common at all motor vehicles then you will till them Vermont is a non title issuing state then you will process to a window when your number is call for processing they will not ask you for a bill of sale because the registration is already in your name and you have provided the information to Vermont.

Which DMV office did you go to? Springfield?

I have a moped in NJ that I bought used from another person in NJ that had no title. The NJ MVC requires a notorized bill of sale if you have no title. No big deal, the seller and I went to the UPS store and got it notorized for $5. You also need a insurance carrier/insurance policy number to enter on one form, but they didn't ask for the card. I didn't want to get insurance but it was $75/year through American Modern with liability, collision and theft and 0 deductible. Today, I went to MVC in Somerville, presented the bill of sale, filled out a registration form and proof of ownership form, and 15 minutes later left with registration, plates, and a title. I didn't even ask for a title, they just gave it to me. NJ moped registration fee is $8 per year so I don't see what the value of going through Vermont provides when it is 4X the yearly cost.

Re: Vermont registration update in New Jersey

You got very lucky. Normally a bill of sale from one nj resident to another will not work. Count your blessings!

Re: Vermont registration update in New Jersey

The annual nj moped registration fee is $15. I’ve been registering mopeds for 20+ years and it hasn’t changed.

You are correct, I didn't look at the bill. The $8 was from the moped manual which was dated. The plates have a spot for registration decal and inspection decal. They didn't give me any registration decal or mention an inspection. Is that obsolete?

Re: Vermont registration update in New Jersey

Yes, no more decals.

Pa got stricter on title transfers. 100 to transfer and it must be owner to owner notarized. No title through the court.

26,000 a year. If you make less you can get the fees waived its just mopeds. If it is automatic one rider and is titled as a moped as long as the driver has an m or m8 class you can have higher displacements up to 100cc before a statie will pull you over.

Local police will stop you every time tho.
