Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

So I was trying to save this cylinder by drilling out this stupid cast in stripped stud. I was using a smaller cheaper bit to make a better pilot hole to re center things when it snapped and broke and drill my finger.

I should have waited and payed someone with a drill press or thrown the garbage cylinder in the trash. . . Now my finger hurts and my morning has been wasted with this nonsense.

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

FUCK, that sent a chill through my bones! I'm sorry to hear that.

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

That is not how its done, son.

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

Ouch. That’s gonna sting a minute

We’ve all been there. I have a 2” scar on my head where I hit myself with a pair of vice grips trying to stretch a center stand spring when it slipped off the spring. Blood was pouring down my face. In this case, it was as bad as it looked.

The real error was holding the piece you were drilling into in the first place

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

Nothing like a little blood and pain to feel alive! Been there and done that. Wash it well, then douse with alcohol. You'll forget about the current pain after the alcohol burns it. Got any finger condoms to put on it to keep it clean? Properly called finger cots btw. (edited)

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

Walk it off you wimp.

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

Soak it in cider.

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

Ouch! Wrap it in electric tape hahaa. U need 3 points of contact when ur doing that stuff to hold steady, or chuck it in a vice. A while back I was grinding something with a serrated tile blade, I let loose at some point and the thing flew out of my hand. Ruined my new welding jacket!

Here's the picture from the ad on my browser at the bottom of your post. If you were looking at THOSE, your day wouldn't be too bad.

Hey if that gives you more trouble, google using alum to disolve steel within aluminum. That does look to be an aluminum cylinder. Never tried it myself.

Probably Fred /

Yeah mechanic stuff ya get hurt here no matter how careful, being floorlayer/carpenter, everything has blades and bits waiting for the perfect storm of accident/injury not just from oneself but from others too,

I’ve seen so much carnage over the years, some very serious injuries to workers that wasn’t funny and my left hand has been stitched up several times due to very sharp hook, utility and carpet knife blades many times because they broke/shattered,

Got hit in the hardhat more then few times from people dropping bolts, screws and tools, got shot in the leg with a 3.5 in nail gun just by plugged it in to air hose, Going in 1.5 in to bone something that they said “could never happen” The list could go on and on,

100 workers died building Boulder dam, even office workers get paper cuts, Murphy’s Law combined with Darwin equals injury !

Yep, suck it up, you Pansy! LOL! JUST kidding!

I've got scars all over my hands and arms from various and sundry misadventures.

ANY car mechanic or construction worker gets it eventually.

Sorry though you had this happen.

Yesterday fixing the truck's power steering hose the CHEAP way, LOL, I stabbed meself with the business end of a dull utility knife.

Shoulda had a mechanic's glove on that hand. We all get hurt, but cars and mopeds are worth it.

I let it bleed for cleanliness sake and now it's healing nicely.

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

I nicked off the tip of my index finger on the rear sprocket which required surgery bc it hit bone. The doctor removed about 3mm of bone so technically I’m now an amputee.

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

Glad I got my tetanus shot updated.

That brings back a memory. Was you cleaning the chain with a rag and the motor idling in gear on center stand? Been there done that on a motorcycle. Was ugly, should of had stiches, lost half the finger nail and took forever to heal.

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

^bingo.

Re: Bad day in the garage. Wounded finger. Warning blood.

I can top all of these. Sitting on the floor welding with the welding blanket on my lap (the one with a small hole) a piece of slag popped off and landed on my lap then fell thru the blanket, burned thru my pants and landed on my nuts. WOW pain.
