Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

I am debating between Hobbits and Puch Maxis getting all the pros and cons, then height was mentioned.

I'm 6'3"....tall and skinny.

Is a Hobbit smaller than a Puch Maxi?

Is 6'3" too tall for a Hobbit, with the long seat without it feeling too small?

I know riding one will tell me for sure...just curious about thoughts about moped size for tall guys?

What are the larger sized mopeds?

Is a Hobbit small, medium or large in moped standards?

Thanks!

6'1" here and my Newport with this seat is pretty comfy. The seat adds a few inches i think. Unfortunately I don't know exactly what seat it is.

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

if you feel like making the trip to dayton oh, i have a plethora of mopeds to try out. not that i am selling mopeds however. just here to try on for size. 6'3" is tall, and you might go for puch magnum, general 5 star. my 2 cents.

Looks comfy, and it looks big enough for me.

Curious about the size of a Hobbit.

Dayton is a drive, but great idea and thanks!

To you both.

5-Star/Lazer 50 have a really high pedal shaft height, that has always felt mad uncomfortable to me.

Puch Magnum

Puch magnum, basically no other Moped will do ever cause it’s basically a magnum is a small motorcycle but you have to learn to modify it to go at least 35-40 on a 35 Mph Rd. or make it go 55 mph on a 50 to 55 Mph Rd. which is no problem if you know what you’re doing,

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

Yeah it even looks like a motorcycle.

Was thinking sitting more upright...with higher handlebars, on a nice long seat, like a Hobbit or the Newport (that Angry Hipster posted a pic of) would be more comfortable.

My back may not like the motorcycle style riding position.

My magnum II has short to mid rise bars and being 5’10’ is not the most comfortable in the world , stock handlebars are perfect even though they may slow you down because of the parachute affect,

No matter what style magnum moped even if it doesn’t have Hydro forks or Spring shocks and forks, a magnum is the best Moped in the world no matter what ever anybody ever says, it Beats Belt Drive Mopeds 100 times to one as far as maintenance and tuning is concerned!

And if you’re allowed to ride doubles the seats allow you to ride dubs where as a dumb little rinky-dink flimsy hobitit has a very low weight limit!

At 0 to 10 below Celsius Belt Drive Mopeds won’t even start especially after being in the snow, all they do is slip, most my bikes I got from farms where I live and they were run year-round including near zero f conditions with snow and that made me a believer!

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

hmmm kens bike does put you in an up right position. ken builds reliable rippers....so i've heard people rave about....you have all these requirement, and ask for help, but dispute sound advise. with all do respect, i sense you'll never be happy with a moped, and they will just cause you angst....life's to short for that....

Sounds like you need something like the chopper I just finished fixing up if you want to sit up straight. It's completely rigid though.

Disputing sound advice is the last thing I do. I've made quite a few notes of Overpriced Parts posts..as well as a few other guys.

If you read my other post, about Puch vs Hobbit it is full of invaluable info.

Looking for the right moped ''for me'' and these guys have taken a lotta time to answer and help out.

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

I'm also a lanky boi. Derbi variants are super comfy and upright

This is the truth also.

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

Vespa Piaggio Grande. Its large and built strong. Dual variated, hydraulic forks, built for two people.

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

I'm 6'3" and never had any problems on my Maxi, my Tomos is quite comfortable too. I think a lot of it is bar height. Higher bars will usually make your back much happier.

That'll take some work to get 45 though

i'm hip. lots of great people here to help. i'm quite aware of whats going on, and have been following from the beginning. built vespa grande deluxe will crush honda imo. turn signals, well suited for taller rider. i get it you don't like um. derbi variant's, take out the stock governors they do 43mph, and engineered accordingly for dependable longevity. i get it you don't like um. paii has shorty wheel base just sayin. i don't have a honda, but i do have a good variety of bikes including the aforementioned. where else can a guy get a legit invite to test ride all of them free of charge. i try an refrain from hating on any moped, but there are many that will not cut your criteria. i rode 100 miles on my stock e50 swapped puch magnum daily go to bike of 8 years today. i did have to road side clean my carb after 2 years, and off i went. it was a great day for riding. when i need speed i ride motorcycles. hope this helps, and i hope you get what you are looking for.

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

Looking at the Vespa Grande info and pics. Love the style with the high handlebars.

Turn signals are a must have.

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

The one i don't think I'd like is that top tank. style Magnum.

Looks like I'd be more comfortable on the Puch Maxi Sport or Vespa Grande style sitting more upright with high handlebars.

I'm willing to sacrifice a little a few mph due to the parachute effect to sit upright. I'm skinny so I make a thin parachute. Lol

35-43 on a built Vespa depending on final drive ratio and set up. A Vespa Bravo would give you turn signals also. (edited)

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

Checking out Vespa Bravos now also.

Thanks Stephen

You want a Derbi Variant for maximum comfort and blastability.

Variant Sport models all had them. That's the model to have anyways since they all have the good Flat Reed engine.

Re: Mopeds for tall guys? I'm 6'3''

I all depends on you body and leg length!

I’m the average 5’ 10” but My buddy is like 6’+ but in the same seat my head sits higher because my upper body is longer.

Nice short legs lol perfect for mopeding

Mopeds fit me perfect or it could just be me.
