you do not need to buy a multi tester. small battery and lightbulb will work to test continuity. you can buy a multi tester in the 99 cent store.
marc is still screwed up on the ee names.
you need to know if you have an ac stator or a dc stator in order to know what r/r is needed. floating means something entirely different.
ac stator has one wire the other attached to the stator plate. a dc stator has two wires connected to each other and not to the stator plate.
marc, there are only 4 r/r needed to do any bike on earth. name them (hint) two are magneto the other two have a field coil. if you can do this you will see how the naming works.
