How do I separate the main shoes and spring off this Vespa rear driven pulley etc deal. I'm thinking that what I'm pointing to may be threaded and if so what tool to capture the grooves and unthread ornis there some totally other way I'm not seeing.

You need to unhook the clutch springs, then the shoes will rotate outward to clear the sheet metal stops. Be careful there are springs with rubber pads that push against the sheet metal stops.

A flat head screwdriver with a notch ground into it is the easiest way to unhook the clutch springs.

And if I want to get to the needle bearing what's next. Again it looks like that grooved ring perhaps is threaded !?

Plus I believe the path to a one way bearing and the ditching of the decomp might like within. Then it is mlm watercooler head time.
